Happy Easter and Two Concerts

Happy Easter everyone! Let us rejoice and be glad for Jesus our Savior has risen!

Hubby and I will be hearing a morning mass real soon so this will be a quick post (I'll try though).

To celebrate Easter, two of my favorite bands will be performing today! I bet you heard the announcements on the radio or you've seen their posters and billboards while on the road.
First heard of the music of this band way back in 2005 where my team mate is listening on her MP3s
and I overheard their music. Jars of Clay is a Christian rock band from Tennessee.
Ooohhh! Their lead vocalist, Danny reminds me of Orland Bloom. Sigh!
There you go, the man who can't be moved himself.
I've been wanting to see both bands especially Jars of Clay. I always played theirs songs Fly and I Need You over and over again. My friend who is a Christian knows them and I bet he probably played some of their songs since he is in their ministry band playing bass. I bet there will be a lot of people going to BGC today to see this band since the admission is free!

Not so long ago, The Script, an Irish band came here in the Philippines two years ago and they're back for the follow-up of their "Science and Faith" album and to promote their third album, "#3". Wow! They already have 3 albums! I personally loved the song, The Man Who Can't be Moved and For The First Time. Tickets may be purchased from any Ticketnet outlets or at online at For inquiries please call 911-5555 and you might still snag some tickets for today's concert.

So take your pic guys, which is which? What a cool way to celebrate Easter huh?

The Story of a Blind Girl

For Good Friday, I just want to share this story that I saw in Facebook. I do hope that we all come to realize how lucky we are that we get to enjoy life and though we are striving, let's not forget to give thanks for all the blessings that we receive either big or small.

Aren't we glad that we don't have to sacrifice our life like Jesus did to save us? Or how about our children? I know that all of us will give a heavy sigh of relief knowing that they will be safe and not be a sacrificial lamb for the sin of others. Life Is A Gift that we tend to take it for granted.

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”

The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:

“Just take care of my eyes dear.”

This is how human brain changes when the status changed. Only few remember what life was before, and who’s always been there even in the most painful situations.

Life Is A Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word–
think of someone who can’t speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food–
think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife–
think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life–
think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children–
think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep–
think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive–
think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job–
think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another–
remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down–
put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around.

Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.

J.Coffee (J.CO)

It's known as J.CO Donuts and I'm curious as to why a lot of people are falling in line and patiently waiting for their turn for these donuts. Has it been a year or more? I have no idea when the craze started and people are hooked to these donuts so with my sister's future sister-in-law, we braved our way to J.CO branch in ATC (Alabang Town Center) as expected there's already a line outside the store. We took our place in the line and patiently waited for our turn.
This box contains 1 dozen of these unique donuts
Here's a tip, it's better to purchase 2 dozens versus 1 dozen since it's cheaper.
Two Dozens of J.CO costs Php 550 whereas One Dozen costs Php 350
The donuts I purchased!
(L-R top) 2 pieces of Berry Spears and 2 pieces of Forest Glam
(L-R second row) 2 pieces of Heaven Berry and 2 pieces of Alcapone
(L-R bottom) 1 piece of Blueberry More, 1 piece of Oreology and 2 pieces of Jcoccino
I know that I should try each flavor but my brother and husband loves strawberry so I have to order 2 pieces of those strawberry flavored donuts just to please them both. I don't want them fighting over a donut =P

My favorite flavor from this box is the Jcoccino since I simply love mocha flavored pastries! I like it better when I  put it in the fridge and the crunchiness of the almonds on top of the coffee flavored icing is simply heaven! I can't wait for another box of J.CO donuts so I have an excuse to eat this darling again.

My second favorite is Berry Spears. It reminds me of Strawberry filled of Dunkin Donuts but more refined not to mention that it's less messy when you're eating it.

Heaven Berry is a creamier and sweeter version of Berry Spears.

I find the Blueberry More so-so. Probably because I can't help but compared it with the Blueberry Cheesecake that I ordered to my office mate which is full of Blueberry flavor on the cream cheese  The good thing about this donut version is that it's not too sweet so if you're not a fan of sugar or sweetness I think you will appreciate this.

The least favorite from this bunch and I will never ordered again is the Forest Glam which is actually the Black Forest flavor. Probably it's just me but I never liked Black Forest because of the dark chocolate which I found bitter. If I were to choose between the Black Forest Game and the Forest Glam, I'll go for the cake since it has an icing whereas the donut all I can think of is the bitterness. maybe they should put a lot of cherries on top of the donut to balance the taste.

I was not able to taste the Alcapone and Oreology since my siblings attack the remaining donuts in the fridge when I was probably sleeping. I guess I have to include these two donuts again on my next purchase to find it out for myself.

J.Coffee Variants
J.CO Frappe
J.CO Flavor Donuts

J.Coffee Delights

Now I know the reason why a lot of people are flocking around their stores! The donuts are soft like it's been baked fresh all the time and it's not too sweet compared to the donuts we have in the market. Furthermore, they offer unique flavors such as the Mr. Green Tea, Green Tease, Avocado Dicaprio and Hi Lychee.

National Puppy Day

USA, Europe and other parts of the globe where the date is still March 23rd are celebrating National Puppy Day! My sister just told me this piece of info earlier today but when I looked in the clock, it's already past 12 midnight.

Mind you, it's not just a merely event/holiday/special day but it is sort of a group/organization founded by Colleen Paige, Pet Lifestyle Expert, Animal Behaviorist and Author. She's also the founder National Dog Day and National Cat Day. Wow! Kudos to her in upbringing the importance of pets and their significance in our lives.

On National Puppy Day we only not celebrate the unconditional love puppies are giving to us and our family, not to mention the joy they bring but also to raise awareness on puppy farms (aka puppy mills) and the abuse or violence toward animals. Puppy farms/Puppy Mills was defined in Avenson v. Zegart in 1984 as a dog breeding operation in which the health of the dogs is disregarded in order to maintain a low overhead and maximize profits. In simpler form, money is the priority versus animal welfare.

In my own way of celebrating this special day for puppies which I love to cuddle since they are oozing with cuteness and charm, I'm sharing with you the photos of my beloved and picky eater dog, Poochie. I still remember the time that my sister brought her home and Poochie was a scared and introverted puppy that she always follow my sister anywhere in the house. My sister was the original owner of Poochie but when she left for Shanghai for a project, the puppy have to stay with us and that's the beginning of a close relationship that is still evident to this day.

A poise puppy!
A winking puppy!
A behave puppy!

Can't get enough of puppies? Do you have a pet dog or cat? Are you an animal lover? Do you have the same advocate as Colleen in helping puppies and other animals alike? Please do check out the website of National Puppy Day to know more about the advocacy behind this celebration. At the moment they're offering 15% discount on Puppy Day Tees and there's an ongoing contest for puppies. Cool prizes are up for grabs. Now don't be shy, I know your curious.

I told you "Smart"

Hello everyone! How's your Saturday so far? Mine was kinda hectic as I'm cramming earlier to finish my very first Photobook. Who would've thought that I will be able to blog and upload a Photobook project at this time while my brother is watching YouTube? I was expecting that these things will happen once we have a wired connection which by the way is still in the process after my several follow-up calls to PLDT's Customer Care Hotline.

Anyways, I was left without an internet last Wednesday and Thursday thus the reason again of me not being able to update my blog. I was really furious with Smart. If you still remember not so long ago I have no internet for five days! At that time, I was at the office so my parents are the one who talked to the technicians from Smart. If I'm not mistaken they told my parents that there's a problem with the signal. I was expecting that they will replace the antenna since it's been 2 years and who knows how many storms it braved to function properly. Well, they didn't replace the antenna and they put the blame on the signal. Hello? Am I the one emitting the signal? Am I the owner of the nearest Smart Tower here in our area? I was upset by this answer so I fervently pray that their diagnosis and conclusion is right but I was wrong and my gut is accurate. I was really frustrated so I immediately called their customer care hotline which is in the wee hours of the morning and thankfully they created a service dispatch for a next day service. Good thing that yesterday my husband has no work and was at home so he is the one who talked to the technicians about my angst toward the canopy antenna. And finally, they replaced my antenna! Hallelujah!

Canopy Antenna for Smart Bro Wireless
The new power adapter for the canopy replacement.
I noticed that it has now two data ports unlike before which  only has one.
They should've replace it three weeks ago as my conscience is screaming for antenna replacement. Even my husband and my father have the same resolution to this "signal" problem that they always told us. Not to mention that the previous times (which was last year) that they fix my no internet connection by assigning me a different IP address. I think they changed my IP address twice since most of the problem with the internet back them was system upgrade.

I'm in cloud nine at the moment and I hope that this wireless connection that we are enjoying now is not temporary. I've been a loyal wireless internet subscriber of Smart for two years even if they have a crappy way to resolve the issue. Good thinking of the technician who attended to our technical woes yesterday and he left us his name and contact details. Kudos to you! Now I don't have to waste my postpaid credit calling the Smart Customer Care just to address my concern with my wireless internet.

March is Women's Month

Quotable quote by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt

According to WikipediaWomen's History Month is an annual declared month worldwide that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. It is celebrated during March in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, corresponding with International Women's Day on March 8.

Isn't that great? Women being recognized by the world not just as a housewife and a mother but an equal entity in the society same with men.

I can't help but sing the Spice Up Your Life song by the Spice Girls! Girl Power!

First National Breakfast Day

That will be 2 more days before we celebrate the very first National Breakfast Day. In celebration of this day, McDonalds will give its loyal customers a treat and that will be...

FREE McMUFFIN for the first 1000 customers per McDonald's Store
Isn't that great? No need to make a purchase. All you have to do is simply walk-in to the nearest McDonald's store between 5am to 9am to get your free McMuffin! Be sure to be the first one thousand customers!

It is a common knowledge that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but a lot of people are skipping breakfast especially when they are in a hurry or on a diet. I am guilty of this habit before but not now as I read in Patty Laurel's blog that breakfast eaters tend to weigh less than the breakfast skipper. How or Why? "One theory suggests that eating a healthy breakfast can reduce hunger throughout the day, and help people make better food choices at other meals. While it might seem you could save calories by skipping breakfast, this is not an effective strategy. Typically, hunger gets the best of breakfast-skippers, and they eat more at lunch and throughout the day." - WebMD

So there, that's a piece of info that is stuck in my mind. Now I know why I always end up hungry when I'm only having a cereal drink in the mornings. Most likely, this is the reason why we have a National Breakfast Day is to promote to every Filipinos the importance of having breakfast meal.

Make it a habit to have a heavy breakfast. I  tried having one the other day and I still feel full during lunch time thus I only ate a bagel and some pineapple courtesy of my office mate. Wink! Hopefully I can continue this healthy eating throughout the whole year.

Don't forget to mark your calendars, March 18 for Free McMuffin! For more information, visit or the official McDonald’s Facebook fan page, . You can also share your excitement on Twitter by using the official hashtag, #nationalbreakfastday.

First Cycle

Finally an internet connection! I'm really frustrated with my Smart Bro wireless connection. We've been using it for almost 2 years and I can't count the number of times that we don't have an internet connection either because of our IP address or the canopy antenna itself or both plus the Smart signal. Grrr!

Alright, I don't want to start my week ranting so I'm going to shift to a different topic now. This is to divert my negative energy and also to update you on what's happening with our TTC (Trying to Conceive) project.

Last February 9, I went to Friendly Care Clinic in Shaw Blvd to have my first consultation with Dra. Angela Sison-Aguilar. A lot of people recommended her especially in the yahoogroup where I'm a member. If I'm not mistaken, she's the cheapest or cheaper alternative infertility doctor versus the two male doctors that come up on my research.

During our first meeting, she asked me questions concerning my health and vices (if any). I'm not a smoker and I rarely drink alcohol. Say, I only drink once in a blue moon. She also asked me about some diseases within the family. My father had a high blood pressure and heart disease caused by his smoking and my uncle on my maternal side has diabetes due to his overweight.

Of course, any OB wouldn't miss asking the start date of my last menstrual period and after all the basic questions, she gave me 4 printed papers which are:
(1) Hubby's analysis which we haven't done yet. Hopefully this month once his scheduled are a little less hectic we can go to St. Luke's Global.
(2) Prescription of Folic Acid that I need to take one tablet everyday
(3) Instructions she gave her patients for follicle monitoring
(4) Assisted Reproductive Techniques or in my own term, the "TTC Plan" . She pointed out that Natural pregnancy rate is only 20% every cycle. The Success rate is 60-80% in three cycles which is equivalent to three months. That's the period she gave us to conceive naturally. Three months of monitoring my ovulation and having the perfect timing. This will be the PHASE 1 of her techniques.

So I'm going to detailed the "highlights" of my Phase 1. I hope they don't sound "malicious":

* For Follicle Monitoring, I was given the date of Feb 26 to check if I will have my monthly visitor or not. If by this date, and the visitor didn't come then I have to take a PT test. Well, I got my visitor (as I expected) on February 11. If this is the case, I need to inform Dra. Aguilar about this by sending her a text message. And she will reply with the date for our next checkup.

* Our next checkup was February 19. I have to take a half-day at work to be able to go back to the clinic. On this checkup she had an ultrasound to check if there's any alien object in my uterus. The last time I had my TVU was 2 years back and everything was okay. Surprisingly, this time around she found a 1cm polyp in my uterus! I had a 1cm polyp before but it was not in the uterus but in the cervix.
Polyp is the one with the black arrow pointed at it. My polyp is a little elongated compared on the picture.
The polyp itself in the ultrasound is whitish in color and it's a little elongated in shape. She didn't say anything if she needs to remove the polyp or if it affects our chances of me getting pregnant but instead she gave me two dates that we need to do the deed. Then my OB asked me to come back to visit her on Feb. 23. Apart from the polyp, she mentioned that everything looks okay.

* I came back to the clinic on February 23 as instructed. My OB took an ultrasound again and I'm wondering what can she possibly wanted to see. I was thinking if she wants to check the polyp again but lo and behold, she showed me my egg cell looking like a pearl in an oyster! It was 2cm in size which I think is a little bit big (don't you?) when I did a research but my OB didn't say anything alarming so I assume that regardless of the size of my egg cell, I'm good to go.

Egg cell in ultrasound it almost looked like this but  in black and white and a little fuzzy
She gave us dates to do the deed. That's actually 4 dates and out of 4, we only accomplished 2. Why? Because we fought on the other date and we turned sour to each other while the other date I was having a fever and not feeling okay at all. I wonder what my OB will say if I told her that we only did the assignment two out of four. She gave me instruction that if I still didn't have my period by March 16, I need to take a Pregnancy test but should I have my visitor then I need to send her a text message for her to schedule me for consultation.

As of this writing I'm on my 3rd day of my monthly visitor. So it's safe to say that the first cycle was not successful.Could it be the two dates we've missed? Or is my polyp a contributing factor? Or it's high time that Hubby take the test required by the OB. Just now, my OB replied to my text message and she scheduled me to go back on March 16 for the 2nd Cycle Monitoring. Here I go again.....

Electrolux HUSH Happier at Home

Weekend is here and I'm always looking forward to spend a relaxing and quiet time as much as possible during Saturdays and Sunday to relieve stress from working 8 hours for five days not to mention the 4 hours of commute I have to endure. But the past few weekends, serenity doesn't come too often.

Like today, I'm planning to clean our room since I'm afraid that sooner or later snakes will emerge and surprise us! Just kidding, it's not quite a jungle yet but if I don't act soon our room might just end up looking like one.

As usual I'll be using my husband's portable vacuum cleaner which does an amazing job in clearing the cobwebs and dust but the sound it emits get on my nerves and probably on our neighbors too. Yikes! You know that the vacuum is on as it can be heard all over the house and to think we have three floors. That's why I wanted to have this Electrolux Ultra Silencer Vacuum.
This is one sleek and stylish of a vacuum cleaner.

Ooohhh! I can imagine myself looking prim and proper while cleaning our space  with this  kind of a vacuum cleaner.
I'm channeling the women in Stepford Wives movie. I'm so posh in quietly cleaning our home.
This is perfect for homes with babies around. Or with people who are working on a graveyard shift.
Isn't it great when things around you help you achieve a harmonious relationship in your household?

This is absolutely a must especially now that we're starting to renovate our space one room at a time. Furthermore, it's not a secret that me and my husband are on the road to get pregnant so if by God's grace we are lucky and have a child of our own, we don't have to worry about the noise that cleaning makes. Our future child/ children can still have their well deserved sleep.

All the talk about cleaning makes me thirsty! And summer season is just around the corner too. According to the weather forecast, summer will officially start by second week of March. Farewell to cool breeze during mornings and say hello to fruit shakes and smoothies!

With this kind of thought, I reminded to look for the blender that was given to us as gift during our wedding. The last time I saw it was last year when me and my mom are making cleansing diet for my father after being discharged from the hospital. I wonder if the blades are clean or they already get rusty. Just the mere thought of rust, sent shivers to my spine. Those blades are hard to reach making them tough to clean. I might as well look for another blender and here's another revolution from Electrolux - The Powermix Silent Blender.
Gorgeous and Quiet. My kind of thing :)
Good thing that the essential parts are removable giving you an access for easy cleaning.
The blender that we have now is nothing like it. Tsk.
Can't wait to make my slushies in a hush!
Imagine that you don't need to shout or raise your voice just to carry a conversation over the noise of your typical blender. What a perfect way to bond with the other family members while preparing your favorite fruity drinks.
Another must I should say especially in the near future that I'll be making some vegetable or fruit puree for our baby. It will be a quiet time for everyone indeed,  a happy full baby and parents enjoying their fresh drink fixes. Isn't that great? No stress and fuss, just peaceful and calm like a weekend should be.

The Electrolux Ultra Silencer Vacuum and Electrolux Powermix Silent Blender is a team to beat in making our weekends more serene and enjoyable. A perfect tandem I should say. After cleaning your space without disturbing the whole household, you can reward your self with a nice healthy drink with the family. Who wouldn't love weekends?
