Gifts for our Blackberry

I can't wait for my sister to come home from Malaysia. She's planning to buy a new smart phone and she had this Blackberry 9300 that she promised to give to me. Last 2010 I bought a Blackberry 8520 but I'm having trouble with the A and Q keys. The timing couldn't be more perfect.

As soon as I have the Blackberry 9300, I'm planning to buy a cell phone cover to protect it from scratches and to prolong its use. I found these two cute cases that I would like for my Blackberry:
Colorful Hearts to cheer up my mood
Cherry Blossoms! Wish I can see one personally...
To fully proof our Blackberry, I would need a black leather pouch. Based on my experience the reason why my Blackberry 8520 had some keys not working is because I left it as it is in my bag, no pouch to protect it from my other things inside the bag. Now I need to have a technician repaired it before I hand it over to hubby so he can use that instead of my Sony Ericsson W800i which is 7 years old. Imagine that.

SM Free Movie Day

And I thought that only those people in the US can enjoy a Black Friday Sale (or Weekend Sale) but turns out that we, in Manila or should I say in the Philippines can have a good treat!

I was browsing through a Facebook group in which I'm a member when someone posted something about the SM Free Movie Day.

You need to register first on this link https://apps.facebook.com/freemovieday/. Since the interface is in Facebook, automatically your name (Facebook name) will appear on the screen below together with your email address and date of birth. You will need to put your contact number then click next.

Registration Interface
On the next screen it will ask you to select the SM Cinema branch where you want to watch the movie and the screening time. On my case I select SM Southmall and the 4pm slot. After selecting the options, the movies available for that time slot on that particular cinema will appear:

Some of the movies to choose from, we chose Stolen on our case
After selecting the movie, you will get a print out congratulating you for a free movie tickets for two:
Print out that you need to present together with a valid ID to redeem your free tickets
There's an option on the lower part of the screen where you can download the pdf file. You need to click this option in order for the file to be downloaded and also for the copy of the file to be sent on your email address. Once you have a printout of this file, present it to the e-Plus booth on your selected SM Cinema. In order to redeem the tickets, you will need to bring a valid ID. Yesterday I was able to redeem our tickets in SM Southmall even if hubby is not with me.

Our Free Movie Tickets for December 8!
You can claim your free tickets from November 23 to December 6. Free Movie Day is on December 8 which happens to be the Feast day of Immaculate Concepcion.

As of the moment, the SM Free Movie Day App in Facebook is under maintenance. Most likely a  lot of people are trying to get their hands on the free tickets. Good thing I was able to find out about this freebie yesterday :)

So for those who want to have their free tickets, be patient and wait for the app to be up and running. As of yesterday, there are still a lot of free seats available.

National Sports Grill

The timing of this deal couldn't be more perfect for my planned weekend anniversary celebration getaway with the husband. I bought a deal in CashCashPinoy wherein I have to pay Php250 for Php 500 worth of food in National Sports Grill. It's a good steal! But of course prior to buying the voucher(s), I need to make a research first about NSG as I don't want to waste my money or should I say hubby's money =P

The reviews are mixed. Some dishes are so-so while other stands out. I decided to get it since it's a cheap deal and I always believed that you get your money's worth so I don't expect anything grand that is comparable to hotel food.

Located at Level 3 of Greenbelt 3 in Makati
First Philippine Team to Mt. Everest
True to it's name, once inside the place you will see a lot of sports memorabilia....posters of the athletes or teams, jerseys, photos of the athletes, etc.

pictures and jersey
more pictures and jerseys :)
loads of TV sets and a projector for sports viewing pleasure ;)
Can you name the 3 athletes in the picture?
Football Corner
Alright, after a glimpse of the place I will now present you the food that we ordered in this place. Let's start first with our dinner entrees:
Chicken Parmesan (Php 425.00)
This dish is good for 2 people but on our case, we end up ordering another dish since we're starving. We didn't take an afternoon snack thus the gluttony. What can I say about this dish? I like the chicken with lots of cheese on top of it. Chicken meat is soft but don't expect that the coating on the chicken is crunchy. I think it's cooked that way. Now on the pasta, if I will be the only one eating this I preferred white sauce over the red sauce since I find the sauce sour like a typical Italian pasta. I wonder what their white sauce tastes like...
Strike and Spare Minor League (Php 315.00)
Spare ribs in National Sports Grill Signature Sauce. You're probably wondering why there's a minor league, well it means to say that it's the junior or smaller serving of the dish. The spare ribs itself is good for 2 people but you have to order an extra rice for this dish. The extra garlic rice costs Php 35. As for the coleslaw, we split it in half. The dish is good as I didn't put too much sauce since based on my experience in eating spare ribs, the sauce makes the meat even sweeter and I don't like that. Good thing there's veggies to balance out the grilled taste of the spare ribs plus the sauce.
Fruit Shakes (Php 125.00)
My initial reaction when I saw the price of the shakes was "it's pricey!" I was baffled to see that there's a generous amount of fruit shakes in the glass. I was not able to finish all of it. Well, that's just me. Hubby was able to finish off his watermelon shake. I ordered mango shake. Both shakes need a little sugar. I'm just used to the taste of Fruitas shakes so that's my benchmark.

Our total bill amounted to Php 1,116.53. We have to pay for the service charge and the excess of the food we ordered since we only used 2 vouchers which is equivalent to Php1,000.

Now let me discussed the food that we ordered for our lunch the following day:

Big Meals! =)
Hubby ordered this....

Cajun Peppercorn Burger with Chips (Php 375.00)
I was not able to taste the burger but according to Hubby says that the Cajun Burger he tasted in La Loma QC was more yummier. I'm guessing that the burger is a so-so, nothing to be raved about. The chips are made of potatoes. I'm not sure if they are home made real potatoes but definitely it's not the usual chips that you can see in the grocery.

Home Run Sample Platter (Php 695.00)
Onion Rings, Chicken Wings, Sluggers (aka Mozzarella Sticks), Taquitos, Tortilla Chips, and Firecracker Fries - all piled into one plate that is perfect for sharing. Comes with a variety of sauces: marinara, salsa, queso, ranch, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Definitely we have salsa and queso on our sauces but I'm not sure of the other two. This is a huge serving! My friend and I were overwhelmed when the platter was out on the table. 3-4 people can enjoy this serving. From the pile what I love the most are the Sluggers and Firecracker Fries. Tortilla chips would've been better if the Salsa being served is good. I still like the Mexicali salsa.

For our drinks, we just ordered iced tea for the three of us - me, my friend and hubby. It's just a regular iced tea flavor, nothing special. Iced tea costs Php 90 or 95 per glass.

Would I recommend it to friends? Yeah, I think the place is a good venue to catch up with friends especially for males and sports fanatic. Imagine yourself having a glass of beer with the Home Run Sampler Platter on the table with friends watching a Pacquiao fight or a NBA Finals Game. Though there are some misses with the food, NSG is still worth a try. Next time that we saw a deal, I'll buy another set of vouchers to try their other "best" and recommended food in their menu.

Agraria San Francisco

As promised in my previous entry, I'll make a post about the shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion and soaps provided in our room during our overnight stay in Intercontinental Manila.

The product brand is new to my ear. Never heard about it so I made a quick research about Agraria.

Screen shot from http://www.agrariahome.com/about-us

"Long before anyone talked about "going green," Agraria was packaging potpourri, candles, soap bars, sachets and burning sticks in woven palm leaf containers from Indonesia."

Bottom line, Agraria is a wrapped-and-ready-to give bath and body products and they are the exclusive distributors of bath products for Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts (Lemon Verbena).

Facial Soap
We haven't used this soap since we brought our own facial wash with us. I didn't know that Intercon provides a facial soap apart from the bath soap.

Bath Soap
Looks like the facial soap but no, you have to check the label on the box. I love the scent of Lemon Verbena, very citrus. I feel relaxed by the scent of it.

Hand and Body Lotion
It does moisturize but you have to be patient in spreading it in a particular area since once you applied it, there will still be traces of the lotion left on the skin so you have to religiously spread the lotion until no marks can be seen.

Conditioner, Shower Gel and Shampoo
Conditioner - It does moisturize my hair. I think I used 3/4 of the bottle since I have a long hair but I still like Creamsilk in my hair though.

Bath/ Shower Gel - Very citrus, lemon smell. Just like any normal gel, it glides on the skin when applied.

Shampoo - I don't think it's for me. There's something off about the shampoo versus the Dove shampoo I'm using but for guys, this shampoo will do. When I applied the shampoo and rinsed it, I was thinking of using the conditioner to smooth my hair. I ended up getting lazy and didn't conditioned my hair. Could it be my fault as well and not the shampoo?

Overall, I'm okay using the products except for the shampoo and I so love the lemon scent. It brings me back memories of summer or the color yellow just pop into my head...hehehe.

Weekend in Intercontinental Manila

We're back to the real world! After a long weekend all of us get a little bit lazy to move our body around especially when it comes to going back to work. I know the feeling. If only I had loads of money I would rather spent an entire week in a hotel room.

I'm still reminiscing the events of last Saturday when me and hubby spent an overnight stay in Intercontinental Manila in Makati. It's actually our post wedding anniversary celebration since we didn't celebrate our wedding anniversary on the day itself. With the help of a dear friend, I was able to get a room for a cheaper cost and we get to enjoy a relaxing weekend especially me. No fuss on doing the laundry or any household chores for that matter.

Our check-in time was 2pm so we paid on the front desk the room rate+ Php 2000 deposit. The lobby of the hotel is not that busy. My guess is that majority of the people in the metro are all in the provinces taking advantage of the holiday.

Our room is on the 4th floor of the hotel. I noticed that the paint is new and you can smell it but not the strong, overpowering kind of smell. According to my friend, the hotel is newly renovated.

Elevator Lobby of 4th Floor
Which way is our room?
4th Floor Hall
Found our Deluxe room!
Closet and Mini Bar on the right and Bathroom on the left (once you entered the room from the outside)

The closet contains two bathrobes, 2 pairs of slipper, a safety/security box, loads of hangers for different clothing, a steamed iron and an ironing board. We're unlucky to have a defective steamed iron in our room. We didn't bother to call housekeeping/ room service since we're just staying in the room overnight. If we will be staying for 2 more days then it will be a different story.

Mini Bar
I told hubby if we could setup a minibar in our 3rd floor space back home. I'm actually after the personal/mini ref that we can use and hide in this kind of setup (see photo above). I can just stash some juices and sodas in the fridge as well as hubby's chocolates. Hopefully we can start fixing our place next year.

So what's in the mini bar? Nuts, chips, bottle of mineral water, sodas in can, snickers bars, beer in cans and some hard drinks in mini bottles. I didn't took a picture of it but I'm sure you have an idea what I meant.

Coffee or Tea?
bathroom
What I like in their bathroom is that it's filled with lots of towels - face towel, hand towel, bath towel and even bathrobe. But the bathrobe is in the closet, the 3 towels are all inside the bathroom. Apart from that, they have lots of tissue. There are 2 rolls of tissue paper that you normally use when using the john and there's a box of facial tissue which I used to wipe the steam in the mirror whenever I took a bath =P

Pro-Environment =)
A working bathtub! Hooray!
I've been to some hotels that have a bath tub in their hotel rooms but are not functioning at all! Good thing we have a bath tub that we can use. How I wish I have a bath tub in our bathroom.

Bathroom Knicknacks
Almost complete.... missing - hair comb and mouthwash

I think this is the first time that I encountered a hotel room with complete knickknacks and everything that you will need during your stay. They have shaving kit, shower cap, sanitary bag, cotton buds, cotton, toothbrush, toothpaste and mini sewing kit. It wouldn't hurt if they included a hair comb and a mouthwash. If you're looking for shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion they have it! But I'll make a separate post for that so standby.
comfy king size bed
I love the bed! I love the fact that there are loads of pillow that I can use (Fine, I was not able to use all of it but what will you do with the extra space in the king size bed?). I had a good night sleep in this bed (slept at 9:30pm then woke up past 8am). If only I can bring this bed back home....

bedside desk and lamps (lamps & lights in the room are all working)
look who's enjoying the LG LCD TV
Intercon's pool
By far this is the best hotel room that I had. We've got a great view of the hotel's pool from our window. Too bad that we didn't bring any swim wear to enjoy their pool. It's actually my fault since I'm in a hurry on that day as I need to finish an errand first before checking in to the hotel. Compared to Sofitel's pool, Intercon's pool is simple and standard but nonetheless it serves its purpose. I'll definitely come back here to try their pool next time.

What a pleasant surprise! Found this in one of the desk drawers
Free Internet? I'm not really sure though
Events in Intercon for November
Overall we had a pleasant stay in the hotel. Had a relaxing weekend that I've always wanted. It helps that the place is not crowded due to the long weekend. Our timing couldn't be more perfect. Plus, the hotel itself is a stone's throw away from SM Makati and Glorietta thus it's very convenient for locals and visitors who wants to go shopping or eating out or watching movies. I will definitely go back here.

75%Off? Not Really....

It's weird that I'm still up at this hour of November 1st (12:30am). Thanks to Cebu Pacific 75% off Offer thus I've been checking their website for discounted flights.

http://www.cebupacificair.com/Pages/default.aspx

I'm targeting Singapore next year and the best date to visit the Merlion is during the Chinese New Year (February 10 and 11, 2013). So I tried these dates in Cebu Pacific portal to check how much is the cost for a round trip per person. Since Feb 10 and 11 are Sunday and Monday, I have to adjust the start date of the trip to Friday which is Feb 8. See the breakdown:

More than half of the cost that I have to pay will go to taxes and fees! Boohoo! The fare itself is really cheap but it's disheartening to see the figures generated for the taxes and fees. The price that you see at the bottom doesn't include the 15kg baggage. If I will add the 15kg baggage allowance to and fro (total of Php 700), the total fare will be at Php 5k+.

When I went to Shanghai China last February 2010, my round trip airfare is only Php 4k (baggage allowance included) then this year my round trip airfare to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia is Php 3k+. If I will include the 15kg baggage allowance it's around Php 4k. Now the question will be, is it still possible for me to get one round trip airfare+baggage to Singapore at the price of Php 4k? I think I will need a Piso Seat Sale Promo for this one.
