Comfort has its value

My last hurrah for May and I'm talking about comfort and the price you have to pay to have one. Okay, don't get me wrong but it's true that there's a certain level of comfort in life and if you want to have a luxurious comfort then you have to spend for it.

Take for example this new FitFlop that is part of the FitFlop Trend Diffuser 2012 Collection...

FitFlop Uno

Description from FitFlop Philippines FB
You may just want 'one in every color' of FitFlop’s new neat, chic, scoop-cut Uno slip-on. This ballerina-style shoe with a hidden wedge adds a bit of height, making your legs look amazingly graceful. It’s definitely a gorgeous wardrobe basic not just for shoe lovers but for any fashionista as it has also been built with the brand’s new ultra-slim Biomimetix™ triple density midsole ensuring comfort and toning benefits that FitFlop is famous for.

When I hit my mid-twenties up to present (don't ask me how old I am because you will be surprised like everybody else...hehehe) I'm more into wearing flats. Sneakers, rubber shoes, ballet flats, flip flops, etc. So as long as my feet are flat on the ground, its fine with me but of course I am pretty keen when buying my shoes. I have this sensitive feet wherein I immediately got blisters by using a new pair of shoes. At worst, I can easily get a scratched skin. Horror isn't it? That's why I only select shoes that have soft material for my feet (not too soft of course) but you know what I'm getting at.

Imagine I saw this beauty in FB and my heart leaped for joy! I was thinking of buying a pair of FitFlops using the discount coupon from my BDJ planner but that's a different story as soon as I have that pair.

Anyways, this will be an answer to my sensitive feet! Unfortunately, I find it expensive. It costs Php 11,990. Wow! Just add a few more thousands and you will get a brand new laptop. I guess this means that this shoes really does wonder for your feet. Stylish comfort and you wouldn't mind walking for hours if you use this I bet. Sigh! See what I mean? I hope in the future they put this on sale.

How to Care for Silk Flowers

May is considered the month of flowers here in the Philippines. During this month, there are a lot of festivities and celebrations happening across the country. There's a tradition in Catholic churches wherein little girls will  offer flowers to Virgin Mary in the altar. There's an instant where I've mistaken a silk flower arrangement to a real one! I guess the owner knows how to take good care of that arrangement. Interested in getting a silk flower for personal use? Well I am. After reading Robert Lobitz's article I'm definitely considering getting one or two arrangements for our home. Taking care of silk flowers is easy as 1,2,3.

--------------------
How to Care for Silk Flowers

Whether you purchase them for a special event or simply to beautify your home, silk flowers have numerous benefits. They save you money, do not carry insects or promote allergies and, no matter how brown your thumb may be, there is no way you can kill them. Another advantage of silk artificial flower arrangements is that they are easy to take care of. Learn how to handle, tend to and clean your faux flowers so that they will look lovely for years to come. Wipe down your flower arrangements any time you routinely dust the furniture in your home. Use a traditional feather duster or wipe leaves and petals with a clean, damp rag followed by a dry one. Avoid using furniture polish or other sprays on silk flowers, as they can leave a film and even discolor your bouquets.

If your flowers are especially grimy or dusty, you can clean them with nothing more than table salt and a paper bag. Make sure the bag is large enough to contain the flowers completely. Pour a cup of salt into the bag, place the flowers inside and roll the top of the bag closed. Gently shake the bag for about a minute. Open the bag and shake any salt remnants from the flowers.

Display your flower arrangements in an area that is not exposed to direct sunlight to keep colors vivid. Rotating various bouquets at different times of the year will help freshen your d├ęcor and maintain the appearance of your silk flowers even longer. Be sure to store the posies in a durable box on a bed of bubble wrap or packaging peanuts to prevent them from being crushed. Wrapping them in a plastic bag before placing them in the box will help them stay clean and avoid dust or mold, as well. Taking proper care of your faux flowers takes very little time and means you can enjoy them for a lifetime.

Footnote:
Wikipedia says Silk Flowers are crafted from silk materials which make the flowers and the entire plant look more life-like. These days’ silk flowers make use of a real touch technique which gives the plant a fairly realistic look.

Snow White in Action

Ohhh how I want to watch this movie on May 31st...

“In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.” -IMDB

When we were small little girls and boys, our parents or nannies most likely read us a lot of stories and Snow White is not an exception. The protagonist of that story was doomed to be killed by her evil step mother not to mention that the queen is envious of how fairer and pretty is Snow White compared to her.

Who would've thought that even if the tragedy in Snow White can't be helped at least she has the guts to fight back? Yes! You heard me right! In this movie Snow White trains under a Huntsman to kick some butts which are of course NOT part of the original fairy tale plot. Talk about girl empowerment.

In my opinion, Kristen Stewart will give justice to this role of a tomboyish Snow White. Tomboyish in a sense that the fairy tale character will obviously perform action stunts and that's what I'm looking forward to watch. Now where is the damsel in distress?

AI Voting

I should have posted this entry earlier but thanks to my Blackberry that is having a problem using Google Chrome as it's browser, I can't blog anymore through this gadget.

Just imagine me (the owner and author of this blog), sitting on my desk at the office with a laptop in front and a Blackberry in my hands. Let me take you back earlier...it was 2:45 pm Manila time....

15 minutes left till 3pm Manila Time. That's the only time left for me to vote in American Idol and give my support to Jessica Sanchez. I tried the three toll-free numbers - no go! All the numbers are busy!

Tried it for the second time, still it's busy! I bet a lot of people are casting their votes for their AI bets. This is the first time I tried calling AI to cast my vote for a contestant and of course, I'm rooting for the only girl left standing to be on the Top 3.

Jessican Sanchez has a versatile voice. When I heard her sing Sweet Dreams, Beautiful Nightmare of Beyonce I knew she has a special talent. She has the ability to control her voice depending on her liking and it's tough for some singers to do that because there are instances wherein you will falter or squeak. You get the ugly picture right?

But Jessica does it smoothly like it's so easy as learning ABC. That particular skill of hers gave her an edge among the other female contestants on her batch. I know a lot of comments have been voiced out like there's a small chance for Jessica to be the Idol winner because of her looks but who cares?! The girl's got talent and it's obvious thank you very much.

Now I only have 5 minutes left and all lines are still busy! Tsk! I should have cast my vote(s) earlier (10am-12nn).

2 minutes to go and I still can't get through...arrrgh! I just hope that Jessica have enough votes on her belt so she can join the Top 2. And then, I will have my chance to cast my vote.

Happy Mother's Day

Only a Mothers love

There are times when only a Mother’s love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.

There are times when only a Mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we’ve dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.

There are times when only a mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.

For a mother’s heart and a mother’s faith
And a mother’s steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.

Thursday Qs for Mother's Day

One of my yahoo groups had a tradition of asking random questions every Thursday. This is to keep each member of the group to participate and to get to know each other deeper.

For this week, it's all about being a mother and about our mothers.

1.  How many kids do you want? And their genders? What would you want their names to be?
>>> 2 - one boy and one girl. Girl's name is Reejane. I'm still thinking of a name for a boy. As much as possible I want it to be different.

2.  What would you want your kid/s to be when he/she grow up?
>>> Nothing concrete but I really want them to be involve in sports. R and I agreed that we will not introduce PC games to our child/children especially at a young age.

3.  Greatest mistake you did that you don't want your child to do the same thing?
>>> Probably not showing how much I love my parents and siblings. I am not that affectionate. I don't hug them, I don't kiss them but I do respect them by giving mano and saying po and opo.

4.  Tell us about one of your godmothers in your wedding, and why you chose her to be a godmother!  (Like, what's your relation to her, how long have you known her, what was her reaction when you asked her, etc.)
>>> Two ninangs(godmothers) in my wedding are very special to me since they are the mothers of my bestfriends (highschool and college). They saw me grew...from merely a student to a bride preparing her wedding. They are my second mothers and they considered me as an extension of their families.

5.  What traits of your mother's do you see in yourself now that you're married and/or a parent yourself?
>>> As a wife, I tend to give sermons...hahaha! I only give sermons if I know I'm right and I'm trying to emphasize a point.

6.  Based on how you yourself behaved, which age-group do you think would be the most taxing for parents to handle: 0-10 years old, 11 to 15 yo, 16 to 20 yo?
>>> 16-20 years old. We all know na we can't be there 24/7 and this is the age where they tend to explore things (curiosity and peer pressure).  The only way we can do to is to guide them and talk to them and be there for them when they need someone to talk to. Just thinking about it makes me want to lock them up in the house. Hehehehe.

7.  What's the best marriage- or parenting-related advice that your mother gave you?
>>> She didn't give me any advice at all. We have a cold war back then since she doesn't want me to get married....hehehe. But seeing her as a wife and a mother, it made me realize that she is a very patient wife and strong-willed person. I wish I can be like that. Full of guts and courage but have an infinite patience.

Also, one advise that I will never forget is from my mother's aunt (my maternal grandmother's sister). She told me that once you are married you need to be tough. I connected this advise to a quote that was
shared by a good male friend of mine. He was getting married in early 2007 (I was married in late 2007) and he told me that "Marriage is for the brave souls". Back then, I was clueless. I have no idea why, but now I finally understand.

I Hate You Readbud

Obviously you know where I'm getting at just by solely looking into the title of this post. For those who are not into "making money online", one of the ways to earn money is by clicking some ads or reading articles. Currently the famous way to make online is blogging or being a virtual assistant. Anyways, enough of the explanations. I was disappointed to learn that READBUD site is a hoax!

I signed up with them way back 2010. Prior to signing up, I checked for reviews and feedback concerning this site just to make sure that I won't be fooled. Back then I didn't see any negative reviews or maybe it's my fault that I didn't probe further. Ha! I fell into their trap like the others.

For more than 6 months, I and hubby always make it a point to check Readbud for some new articles to review. I told my husband that it will be such a waste if we missed some articles. Come the moment that I've been waiting for when my earnings reached $50, I immediately request for a payout on my Readbud account. I got an automatic message saying I need to wait for a week till 30 days for my payout to be reflected in my PayPal account. I and hubby patiently waited, come 30 days I decided to make a follow-up. I've sent them an email to raise my concern. No reply from their end. I gave them another 30 days, still no reply. This is not a good sign.

One fine day I decided to clean my inbox. As I was checking for emails to be deleted, I saw the admin email of Readbud. It was an auto reply email once you signed up with them where it will show you your username and password. I immediately hit the reply button and wrote them an email raising my concern about my $50 payout which I have not received. I was hopeful that this time, my woes would be heard as soon as I hit the send button.

Imagine my surprise when I saw an email failure. It was my email to Readbud's admin/general info email address! That's when I confirmed that this site is bogus! Ha! I wish that there was a web or an internet police to shut this site down.

Lesson learned for me, do research a lot and don't get easily fooled by the forums or by the other people's comments/suggestions.
