Weekend in Intercontinental Manila

We're back to the real world! After a long weekend all of us get a little bit lazy to move our body around especially when it comes to going back to work. I know the feeling. If only I had loads of money I would rather spent an entire week in a hotel room.

I'm still reminiscing the events of last Saturday when me and hubby spent an overnight stay in Intercontinental Manila in Makati. It's actually our post wedding anniversary celebration since we didn't celebrate our wedding anniversary on the day itself. With the help of a dear friend, I was able to get a room for a cheaper cost and we get to enjoy a relaxing weekend especially me. No fuss on doing the laundry or any household chores for that matter.

Our check-in time was 2pm so we paid on the front desk the room rate+ Php 2000 deposit. The lobby of the hotel is not that busy. My guess is that majority of the people in the metro are all in the provinces taking advantage of the holiday.

Our room is on the 4th floor of the hotel. I noticed that the paint is new and you can smell it but not the strong, overpowering kind of smell. According to my friend, the hotel is newly renovated.

Which way is our room?
4th Floor Hall
Found our Deluxe room!
Closet and Mini Bar on the right and Bathroom on the left (once you entered the room from the outside)

The closet contains two bathrobes, 2 pairs of slipper, a safety/security box, loads of hangers for different clothing, a steamed iron and an ironing board. We're unlucky to have a defective steamed iron in our room. We didn't bother to call housekeeping/ room service since we're just staying in the room overnight. If we will be staying for 2 more days then it will be a different story.

Mini Bar
I told hubby if we could setup a minibar in our 3rd floor space back home. I'm actually after the personal/mini ref that we can use and hide in this kind of setup (see photo above). I can just stash some juices and sodas in the fridge as well as hubby's chocolates. Hopefully we can start fixing our place next year.

So what's in the mini bar? Nuts, chips, bottle of mineral water, sodas in can, snickers bars, beer in cans and some hard drinks in mini bottles. I didn't took a picture of it but I'm sure you have an idea what I meant.

Coffee or Tea?
What I like in their bathroom is that it's filled with lots of towels - face towel, hand towel, bath towel and even bathrobe. But the bathrobe is in the closet, the 3 towels are all inside the bathroom. Apart from that, they have lots of tissue. There are 2 rolls of tissue paper that you normally use when using the john and there's a box of facial tissue which I used to wipe the steam in the mirror whenever I took a bath =P

Pro-Environment =)
A working bathtub! Hooray!
I've been to some hotels that have a bath tub in their hotel rooms but are not functioning at all! Good thing we have a bath tub that we can use. How I wish I have a bath tub in our bathroom.

Bathroom Knicknacks
Almost complete.... missing - hair comb and mouthwash

I think this is the first time that I encountered a hotel room with complete knickknacks and everything that you will need during your stay. They have shaving kit, shower cap, sanitary bag, cotton buds, cotton, toothbrush, toothpaste and mini sewing kit. It wouldn't hurt if they included a hair comb and a mouthwash. If you're looking for shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion they have it! But I'll make a separate post for that so standby.
comfy king size bed
I love the bed! I love the fact that there are loads of pillow that I can use (Fine, I was not able to use all of it but what will you do with the extra space in the king size bed?). I had a good night sleep in this bed (slept at 9:30pm then woke up past 8am). If only I can bring this bed back home....

bedside desk and lamps (lamps & lights in the room are all working)
look who's enjoying the LG LCD TV
Intercon's pool
By far this is the best hotel room that I had. We've got a great view of the hotel's pool from our window. Too bad that we didn't bring any swim wear to enjoy their pool. It's actually my fault since I'm in a hurry on that day as I need to finish an errand first before checking in to the hotel. Compared to Sofitel's pool, Intercon's pool is simple and standard but nonetheless it serves its purpose. I'll definitely come back here to try their pool next time.

What a pleasant surprise! Found this in one of the desk drawers
Free Internet? I'm not really sure though
Events in Intercon for November
Overall we had a pleasant stay in the hotel. Had a relaxing weekend that I've always wanted. It helps that the place is not crowded due to the long weekend. Our timing couldn't be more perfect. Plus, the hotel itself is a stone's throw away from SM Makati and Glorietta thus it's very convenient for locals and visitors who wants to go shopping or eating out or watching movies. I will definitely go back here.
