Answered Prayer

After more than 2 years of praying, wishing and hoping, the Lord grant us one of the best blessings this year!

Truly Patience is indeed a virtue. I will be forever grateful to you Lord for granting me this wish of ours.

What a great way to end 2010 and a successful 2011 for the two of us!

To my hubby, prepare yourself to be back in the corporate world! Wooohooo!

Xmas Party 2010

Ahoy everyone! It's been awhile since I posted. I got caught in a tangle of work and household chores that's why I never had a chance to update this blog until today.

As promised on my last post, here are some snapshots of our company's Christmas Party held at Makati Sports Club last December 13.

Who would've thought that I can carry that dress??? Good thing that I bought it the last minute =)

The week that was....

Hello everyone! I'm still alive and this blog is still breathing...hahahaha! Since its December there are a lot of things that will keep you busy - parties, deadlines at work, shopping, reunions, etc.

Let's see the highlights of the past days in my buzz-y life:

December 4: I went to the Catholic christening of my college classmate/ barkada's daughter. I have another god children added in my list =P

December 13: It was our company's Christmas party! I hurriedly went to the mall in the morning to buy  a dress to wear. Had myself a foot spa and pedicure, I'm planning to have one again soon. I decided to go since the leads and the manager promised that we are not required to work on that day. We partied till 12 midnight then off we go to Music21 to sing our hearts out! I will post some pics to share in the next entries.

December 15: We have one-on-one meeting with our "Big Boss" who is an American. He visits every quarter to check with each members of our team and catch up with what's going on at work. He is really a hands-on director unlike other BPO companies.

December 17: I distributed the gifts for my colleagues at work. It was a good gift and a great buy! Thanks to Buyanihan.com. Everyone loves the gift :) I still have a few more gifts to give to some of them who were on leave that day.

So there...most of the days I'm bust working or going to Human Nature to purchase some items that I will give to my friends and god children. I'm not dwelling on how much I spend but rather I'm thinking on how good it feels to give without asking for any return. After all, Christmas only happens once a year so I want to make the most of it.

It will be a tiring day....

...but at the end, I know that I will enjoy myself despite the lack of sleep and rest.

Hubby and I will meet each other later to watch Narnia, one of the few things that I look forward to. Then after that, we will meet my two girlfriends for bonding time! One of them will be leaving to Singapore to celebrate her son's 3rd birthday (he happens to be my god son) and to spend Christmas with her husband which is a good friend of mine since my "call center" days.

I only took a nap earlier at work for an hour. I worked yesterday to cover a position that is urgent. I wonder if my effort of coming to work on a rest day will paid off. Hopefully it will (crossing fingers).

So in a matter of minutes, the hectic afternoon will commence....

Ouch!

One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn't pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself.

Must be my guardian angel wants me to put this into heart and mind for the next coming days. It's very timely since I'm feeling so down and stressed lately. Think positive Joanne! Cheer up!

Banapple in Makati

This is such a joy to hear! The first time I heard and known about this pastry shop/ cafe was last month (yeah, too late) when one of my office mate brought a chicken pie for him (from Banapple's Katipunan branch) to share since the size is pretty big compared to the single pies served around here in Manila.

I instantly fell in love after I took my first bite! The chicken meat is tender and flavorful. Yummy! At that moment, I asked and prayed for Banapple to put up a store in the south area. Answered prayer!

Location: Ayala Triangle Gardens Ayala Avenue, Ayala Triangle Makati City
Store Hours:  Monday to Sunday 10:30am to 10:00pm

I never had a chance to check out the place yet but definitely, I'm going to visit the place in the next coming days before my Christmas vacation. Stay tune!

Till We Meet Again

We didn't expect that this is happening...we are all unaware...caught by surprise...feeling that all is just a nightmare...to put the bad dream to a stop, we visit you to the place where we can find you...to our dismay, there you were...sleeping soundly, just like waiting for tomorrow's sunlight...but we all know, you won't see it through your naked eyes...you will see the light in it's glory together with our Creator...

marie

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

Rest peacefully my dear friend....

Lot for Sale

I'm taking my chances if somehow by the power of technology, we might get a buyer for the lot that my mother owns. Blog mates if you know someone who might be interested, they can post a comment here in my blog or send me an email.

Here's the description:

LOT FOR SALE
Location: Cityland Greenbreeze Village VI, Barrio Biclatan General Trias Cavite (besides Gateway Business Park)
Size: 269 sqm.
Price: Php 2,500 per sqm (negotiable).

My mother purchased this lot in the early 80's as an investment but since we didn't end up living in that area, she wants to sell it instead and use the money for home improvements of our current home that my sister purchased early this year.

Bye bye SonEric....Hello BB!

We got our bonus last Friday and boy oh boy we were all so happy! I didn't expect when I went to work that I will "compulsively" (?) bought myself a Blackberry Curve. =D

The unit is originally from my officemate and it's only a week old. He decided to sell it since he is used to BB Bold and he wants to buy the newest Bold 2.0. It took me hours before I finally gave in to buy the unit. After all, you can't buy a BB unit that is less than Php10k + the accessories that he bought for the unit like a 4GB memory card+2GB memory card, 2 casing for protection and a screen protector that is already installed on the unit. It was a good steal!

Today, I will be getting all my contacts from my Sony Ericsson W800i and transfer it to my BB. In fairness to my Sony Ericsson unit, it served me well for 5 years. Up to now, it's still functional except for the button for the camera and bite marks of our puppy. Other than that, you can still use it. I was thinking of keeping it because we had good memories together and it holds a sentimental value for me. That unit was the priciest that I ever bought for a phone! But I have no regrets since at that time when I bought it last 2005; it was an all around phone that everyone has been craving for. I'm a proud owner of W800i. It never failed me. Why I have the sudden feeling of not letting my W800i go?

Reality Bites

Blood relatives often have nothing to do with family, and similarly, family is about who you choose to make your life with.

Bellevue Sale

Last Friday, my friends and I went to Grace Village for the famous Guess, Mossimo and Mango Sale. It was my first time to go there. We run a little late since I will be coming from the South so instead of 9am which is the agreed time that we were supposed to meet, we end up at 10:30 am instead =P

We arrived in the exact place almost 11am and boy, it was no joke when the email that was sent to the yahoogroup in which I'm a member, cautioning us that it will be jam-packed. It really is! Most of the people that I saw are still rummaging through the clothes on the tables while others are already falling in line. I assume that they are near the vicinity and probably they've been to the sale for the past years thus they know the drill.

I started off looking for shirts to be given as gifts for my brothers. Then blouses/shirts for my youngest sister. I didn't buy a pair of pants since you are not allowed to fit them so I disregard that in my list. You need to arm yourself with loads of patience and perseverance before you can see the EXIT sign...hehehehe. Hands down to the preggy moms that I saw in the venue who are looking for in children and babies clothing section. They have a lot of endurance.

For those who might want to check the place, here is some of the list of items that I gathered:

Adult Shirts  (Men or Women)          Php 290
Mossimo Leggings                            Php 290
Adult Jeans (Men or Women)           Php 500
Kid's Shirts                                      Php 190
Baby's Clothes                                 Php 160
Mossimo Body Spray                       Php 180

Apart from shirts and blouses, there's also perfume, bags, shoes, make-up that are on sale. For bags, they are offering 25% discount.

I end up buying 11 shirts, 2 leggings and 2 body sprays amounting to Php 4,130. The shirts that I bought are mixed of Guess and Mossimo. It's one of the best deals that I had since if you purchase these shirts in the mall, Php 4k will only give you 4-5 shirts.

I'm thinking if I should go back on December 5th for their last day of sale. This time, I will be coming with my sister and hopefully we can go there early but let's see if we can make it happen.

Tips:
* Never bring kids on the venue. The place is humid since there are a lot of people in the clubhouse.I hear a lot of kids crying since it's hot and the fact that you have to squeeze your way to move around the sale items.
* Wear comfy clothes to avoid.
* If you purchase 10 items below, there's a separate line for you which is of course faster compared to the long line where I end up. There's only one cashier though and you have to pay in cash.
* Bring your own bag. The bags that they are lending to people is not enough so might as well bring your own so you can start stuffing your items.

2 Days

That means two days of no work (Thursday and Friday)! Wooohooo! The much anticipated Thanksgiving holiday is here :)  I can finally relax and do the things that I wanted to do like going to the malls, having a massage, cleaning the 3rd floor of our house, laundry, movie date with hubby and if there's an extra time, a dinner date will be wonderful!

Sigh! I so miss having a social life outside work. Hehehehe. The cons of working on a graveyard shift.

After this long weekend, I will patiently wait for my Christmas vacation. Wow! 2010 is nearing to an end.

Movie Night Out

Yesterday night, our company held a movie night out for its employees. It's a tradition that every quarter, the employees will vote for a movie that they want to watch and of course it's for free! Not to mention that there's a food and drink included ;)

harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part 1
For the last quarter of this year, the winner is Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows! I enjoyed watching the film regardless that I was not able to see the movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. LOL. I know, I'm silly for not watching it.

We watched the movie in Greenbelt 1 Cinema 2. Good thing I was able to get there in time considered that it's traffic in all parts of the Metro due to the rains and the fact that my place of origin is far away from Makati. I guess, I have a thing for being a Buzzer Beater =P

Since I have no work on Thursday and Friday, I'm planning for me and hubby to have a movie date of our own. Hubby wants to see Megamind. Apart from that, I also want to have our dinner date as a late celebration of our wedding anniversary. Hmmmm...

Make Your Move And Step Up

I love to dance. As long as I can remember when I was a kid, my aunts and family friends will ask me to dance just to entertain them. When I was in grade school, I participated in performing a dance number together with my club mates during the foundation day. In high school, I enjoyed the PE class as long as the topic has something to do with dancing. One thing that I regret in my life was not nurturing this talent that was given to me. I stopped participating in school activities when I was in high school till college. Shyness overpowers my love for dancing. Why am I telling you this? To not make the same mistake as I deed. To be able to do what you love most and show it to the world.

That's why I want to share with you this event. In celebration of the World A.I.D.S. (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) Day on December 1, 2010, a special dance competition dubbed “Make Your Move” will kick off at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Music Hall at 10:00AM on the same day. College students and call center agents can participate in this one-day dance competition with over PHP 175,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

To join, simply form a group with a minimum of eight (8) members up to a maximum of twelve (12) members to a dance group. Members may be all male, all female, or a combination of both. All dancers must be bona fide college students or currently employed as call center agents/officers. Groups may simply fill up the registration form, bring valid IDs for verification purposes and a video of the dance choreography.
The dance routine should not be more than 5 minutes and must incorporate “AIDS Awareness” as a theme.  All requirements should be submitted to On Ground Activation, Co (see contact details below).
P100,000 awaits the champion while the first runner up gets P50,000 and the second runner up will take home P25,000. Plus, all non-winning dance groups will get a consolation prize of P5,000 each.  The group with the most number of contingent/supporters will receive P20,000.

This special event is just one of the many advocates of Frenzy to promote awareness for AIDS. Frenzy believes that disseminating proper information about AIDS is just one of the many ways to stop the spread of this worldwide killer. This special dance competition/event  is part of the company’s campaign towards that goal.

“We’re proud to showcase the best talents of the Filipino youth as we celebrate World AIDS Day. Filipinos are very talented and we want to be instrumental in spreading awareness about AIDS in a wholesome and fun way. Make Your Move is literally, a step in the right direction” says Norman Campoy, Brand Manager for Frenzy.

For more details, you may get in touch with Judy Perez at 895-2561/09063193537 or Eula Capidos at 0915987171 of On Ground Activation.

You may also find more info at Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/makeyourmovedance.

Not only your busting you're moves on stage but also you're stepping up along with others for  good cause. Who knows, your group might be the next JabbaWockeeZ waiting to be discovered.

Pass

Tonight, Gin Blossoms will be having a concert in Araneta Coliseum. After contemplating of whether to go or not,  I made up my mind to buy tickets for me and hubby since the husband loves this band so much. Unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances (one of my colleagues at work will be watching this concert) I can't take a leave. Sigh!

I wish that they will be coming back again to perform. By that time, I'm going to make sure that we can watch them. Please be back soon, I pray.

Hoola Hoop

Finally I bought myself a Hoola Hoop from Toby's Sports shop. This is my alternative way to exercise. Before I was diligent in doing Hip Hop Abs but since I'm always sleepy and too tired to put the DVD disc and follow the steps on the TV screen, I went hiatus.

My sister has a Wii Fit and since August when it arrived, I never had a chance to use it or try it. Blame it on my work shift schedule that I always end up lazy to take interest in anything new inside our home. Hehehehe.
hula-hoop

I'm planning to start my Hoola Hoop exercise tomorrow since I came home late today and I have to do something important which I can't neglect. While doing the task, I'm going to search for other Hoola Hoop exercise that I can do apart from twirling it in my waist. It's about time that I keep my blood pumping. Time to get fit again.

Organic Gifts

Last September I signed up to be a dealer of Human Nature products. My reasons are (1) for personal use and (2) as another means of income. My sister's co-workers are my first customers. So far so good. The orders doesn't come week after week which I don't mind. Believe it or not, I'm happy that people are starting to recognize these organic products. My sister is happy with their Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner as well as their Tomato Facial wash and Toner.

On my part, I like their Jasmine Hair Mask and their Feminine Wash.I'm currently using both of these products. I'm planning to buy a body and foot scrub in my next purchase to pamper my skin since going to a spa can be so expensive.

Now I'm waiting for Human Nature to release their new catalogue in time for the Christmas season. I'm planning to give some of their products as gifts for my friends and god children. As much as possible, I want to give gifts that can be of use by the receiver. I don't want my gifts go to waste because it's broken.

I still have to make my Christmas list for the gifts I'm going to give next month and I know it will be a lot but I'm not complaining. I enjoy giving gifts. It makes me feel I'm one of Santa's helper :)

Taylor Swift Live in Manila

I completely forgot to post it in my blog. I actually read this from PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last Monday where they confirmed that Taylor Swift concert is set on February 19 in Araneta Coliseum.

Supposedly the said concert was set last October 22 but due to the hectic schedule of Taylor it was cancelled and rescheduled to February! :)

The concert is part of Taylor Swift's Southeast Asian Tour for her album, Speak Now.

Selling tickets to the public started last November 8 in Ticketnet Outlets. For those interested to buy (like me) , call 911-5555) or go online at www.ticketnet.com.ph.

I'll probably ask my youngest sister to join me in watching the concert since she likes this gal so much and I need company. My husband will obviously not go since he's not a big fan of TS.

Trick or Treat 2010

It was the first time for my youngest sister to join this tradition originated in the West. Apart from that, it's also the first time for us to join this event in our village :)

We haven't prepared that much so we didn't spend too much on the costume as you can see on these photos:

 trying to be scary =P

where are the fangs?
make-up courtesy by me!

the little witch is under the spell of the little vampire
little witch is under the spell of the little vampire....oh no!

Regardless of the budgeted costumes, they enjoy getting treats from different houses in the village. Who wouldn't be happy when you have a pail full of candies and other sweet treats to munch while you're watching TV? Even I enjoyed eating some of their candies =P

Swamped

It's good to be blogging again. I was busy the past days with work and with household chores. The only days that I can stay long in my bed to sleep is during my day offs. Now that is Monday again (here in Manila), it means I'm back to sleeping 4-5 hours for five days =(

I am looking forward for the Thanksgiving holidays in the US since there will be no work for both US and Manila offices. Yey! I'm hoping and praying that the comings days prior to Thanksgiving will be smooth sailing as I don't want to stress myself while Christmas season is waiting for all of us around the corner.

Next year, I'm thinking of exploring more options in life especially when it comes to work and career. After all, money can't buy everything.

Happy 3rd Year Wedding Anniversary

To my dearest husband who never fails in letting me know that I am loved and adored, here's a simple thought just for you on our special day...

P.S. I actually send this quote to him via SMS early this morning and my husband's replied to me saying that he cried while reading it. Awww...he tends to get emotional sometimes and I guess this is one of those moments. Too bad I was not on his side when he read the message, I would love to see his reaction.

Cry for Love

I'm done reading "The Notebook" and I so love it! It's much better than the film (though I love the film as well but you know, the book is complete and more detailed). As expected, I cried while reading it. The two main characters in the story is a perfect example of what LOVE is all about (1 Corinthians 13:1-13). I'm encouraging the husband to read the book as well. Why? Because I want him to shed some tears like I did! Ahahahaha! Yeah, I know I'm naughty and I'm still thinking of ways for him to read it since he saw me crying while reading the book.

We've watched the movie version and guess what? Hubby is the first one to cry =)  He is such a crybaby compared to me =P

Waiting for Taylor Swift

I suddenly remembered the cancelled Manila concert of Taylor Swift here in Manila. Thanks to my colleagues here at work singing Teardrops on my Guitar by the Country/Pop Princess (yes, I'm currently working while blogging).

For me it was a blessing in disguise that the concert will be move. The main reason is I can't afford to take a leave on the previous set date which is Oct. 22 (Friday) so I heaved a sigh of relief when the concert date will be push through a later. Whatever date it will be, I wanted to see the concert. I really like her because she's a simple, honest and bubbly chick. No offense to Miley Cyrus fans, but I like Taylor better.

Speaking of concert, Gin Blossoms will be here in Manila next month. Initially I was thinking of attending the concert with hubby since he loves their band so much that he never gets tired of playing their songs over and over again. I'm not sure if I will push with this plan since I'm preparing for our 3rd year wedding anniversary dinner. Sigh! Decisions, decisions, decisions....hmmm..

There a a lot of foods and desserts plus the unlimited servings of draft beer and iced tea. I'm not a beer and alcohol drinker so my tummy is contented with the iced tea...hehehehe.

I enjoyed the food so much that when we went home, I skip eating dinner since my tummy is full. I immediately hit the sack and doze off. It was a great day and experience for all of us. This is the first time that I went to an Oktoberfest event and what's more, I have my siblings with me! Family bonding time :)

14 - Day Challenge....My Verdict

After participating in the 14-days challenge of Pantene wherein they sent me a sample of NEW Pantene Hair Fall Control, here are my conclusions:

1. Indeed it proves that it lessen the hair fall when you used the shampoo.
2. It leaves my hair dull. I was thinking that maybe the shampoo and conditioner is not ideal for my hair.

So there you are, the results based on my own experience. Of course I acknowledge the fact that not all hair are equal and that others may find this Pantene variant an answered prayer for them. I guess this type of Pantene shampoo and conditioner doesn't sit well with my hair.

I have a hunch though if I got the other Pantene variant then probably I will have a different story to tell about my Pantene experience. I forgot what kind of Pantene shampoo it was. All I know is that Carla Abellana endorses that variant (see commercial video below):

P900 Oktoberfest Brunch Buffet at Sofitel

That's right! Cashcashpinoy.com is selling tickets for the Brunch Buffet in Sofitel for the Oktoberfest celebration which is happening on October 17.

Kids under 12 years old are free as long as they are accompanied by 2 adults that are ticket holders.

Sunday Brunch's location will be in Harbour Tent (parking lot) in Sofitel where carousel, balloon wheel ride, choo choo train, bumper cars, mini jets and an inflatable kingdom will be setup for the kids to enjoy. A sumptuous authentic Bavarian delights such as fresh roasted pork knuckles, laugen rolls, grilled sausages and mouth-watering pastries awaits everyone who will be coming to this event.

At first I was hesitant about this promo so I decided to call Sofitel and confirm about the tickets. True enough Sofitel are selling tickets for the Oktoberfest Brunch Buffet but I'm not sure how much is the original cost as the agent didn't tell me that info. She just asked me if I'm an Accor Advantage Plus member and I said yes. For the members, they are selling the tickets at Php 800. For non-members, don't fret because you can still avail the Php 800 price as long as you know a member who can buy the tickets for you ;)

I just made a reservation of the tickets to the agent though she can't promise me on how long she can hold them. I just gave her my mobile number so she can contact me if there's a "shortage" of the tickets especially when it's nearing payday.
This is great deal for everyone who wants to enjoy a family day in Sofitel :)

P.S. For those who will purchase in CashCash Pinoy, please be aware that there's a time limit in order for you to buy the tickets. As of the moment, we still have 2.5 days left before the offer is gone.

Bookmarked

This is my current reading...

I've watched this movie with hubby. Back then we are just bf-gf. I so love it! Indeed it shows how one person can love somebody unconditionally without asking for any return. I was surprised to see hubby getting teary-eyed and were not even on the part where there's all the drama...hehehe.

Let's see if the movie stayed close to the story of the book.

Will be here soon....

skyline

I found a romantic place where Hubby and I can celebrate our 3rd year wedding anniversary!

For the South peeps, I'm sure you will recognize this place ;)

The next thing I need to do is to make a reservation.

Bitten

For those who have seen my status in FB and Plurk I was bitten by our pet puppy (she's the baby that I introduced in one of my entries last month).

I was in our room Monday night taking a rest since I have a fever and a headache. Our puppy loves to roam around the house and sometimes she sleeps in our room. Well, that night she went to our room looking for a playmate. I didn't give her that attention that she needed so naturally, she will find ways for me to notice her so she playfully bite me on my right foot like she normally does when she wants to play. Apparently, her bite is harder than normal and I got a wound. The wound bleed and my husband hurriedly looked for Betadine to clean the wound. It's a wrong move according to the doctor when I seek medication the following day. His advice is that when you have a dog or animal bite, you have to immediately rinse it with water and soap.

I end up having two shots of anti-rabies and two shots of anti-tetanus. For the anti-rabies, it cost me Php 650 in the Animal Bite Center near our place whereas for the anti-tetanus, I went to a hospital to get the vaccine. Good thing that my HMO shouldered the expenses for the two anti-tetanus shots.

Right now the puppy is on a leash inside our home, sometimes we let her go outside and tie the leash in a window to sustain her. So far she's not showing any changes on behavior. Though I was bitten by our "baby" I know she meant no harm and I'm praying and hoping that she's not positive on rabies.

I am scheduled for 3 more sessions for the anti-rabies shots. It doesn't hurt at all if that's what you want to know. I find the anti-tetanus shots more hurtful and some people I know who's been on my situation before agrees.

Update on Pantene Challenge

It's been a week since I started the 14-days challenge of Pantene and I'm using their Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner.

Here are my observations while using it:

* The shampoo doesn't produce much lather in my hair. After washing it water, it's not soft at all.
* When I used the conditioner, that's the only time that my hair will have a soft texture.
* When my hair is all air dried, I noticed that it doesn't shine like the way I used my previous conditioner and shampoo. I was thinking that maybe Pantene is not the brand for me.
* I guess it lessen my hair fall...somehow...

So there, one more week to go before I can finally made a conclusion. Though I have 7 more days left, I already have a gut feeling what my judgment will be....

Versuaz

I discovered this online shopping last week and I'm thrilled that the items they are selling are a lot cheaper than those who are selling in Ebay and Multiply ;)

Since 2008 (if I remember it correctly), Korean and Japanese clothing are a big hit here in Manila. I was planning to buy some pieces but never pushed through since at that time, I have to spend my money wisely. Apart from that, I am not sure on how well the items will fit me if ever and if there's an exchange policy.

Good thing Versuaz has a return/ exchange policies which I think other sellers are not offering. I'm impressed. They are really giving 100% Customer Satisfaction and that's an edge to their competitors. It only means that they are taking good care of their customers and not to lose their trust. I also made a research about them and majority is positive feedbacks ;)

What's more they have ongoing promos that you might like to check out. They offer discounts for referrals, wholesale/bulk purchases and if you're planning to be a reseller of their goods.

I'm going to try this myself and let you know what happens to my online purchases. Stay tuned.

103

I can't believe it but it's true...Either the weighing scale is lying or it's just me in denial.... I think it's probably true, the figures is consistent to what my body looks like now. Sigh!

From 93 pounds when I started joining a new company (which was last March) from a whopping 103 pounds! That's 10 pounds for 7 months! Arrrgghh! Though a lot of my friends say that I'd still look good regardless of the extra cellulite in my body but of course I want to be in good shape like I used to be (pops into my mind my Boracay body last June 2009).
That's why I'm going to go back to Hip Hop Abs which really works for me. Now I have to set my mind for an aching body tomorrow after this workout. I have to set my mind now for a  "No Pain, No Gain" motto.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Last Friday, my sister celebrated her birthday! I will not divulge her age or she will kill me  =P

Just like any siblings, we used to fght a lot during our yester years. I can still remember some events where we physically hurt each other intentionally like we are messing around with an enemy instead of a sister.

As we became matured as years passed by, all the mischief and pranks that we had inflicted towards each other is a closed book that for good. I realized how lucky I am to have her. She proved herself that she can be by your side when you needed her. Now, I'm getting teary-eyed....

(Me and my sister in Shanghai Outlet last February 2010)

Happy Birthday to you!
I hope and pray that whatever dreams and wishes you have in your life will come true.
You deserve to be rewarded for everything you've done for our family.
We Love You!!!

Kiddie Stuff for Christmas

Three months to go and it's Christmas! Time for giving and sharing and most especially it's the time of the year for kids. Yes, that's right. This season is really meant for the kids since it's the birth of Jesus Christ and the fact that Santa Clause showers them gifts for being a good boy or girl. Sometimes I do wish that I was a kid where it's stress free and laidback.

I haven't started my Christmas shopping. I'm planning to do it next month. I have more or less 18 god children but some of them are out of the country so immediately I will cross them out in my list but majority of them are still here in the Philippines so I'm thinking of giving them each of a kids backpack or personalized duffle bag so they can use it whenever they go out. It's a good thing that both of these bags can be personalized. I just hope that some of them will appreciate it since I like giving gifts that are useful. I don't like to give toys anymore since they will outgrow it eventually. Before I get ahead of myself, budget is an important factor for me to consider if I can really get them these as presents. If only money is not so hard to find nowadays.

Apart from the Christmas presents that I'm trying to accomplished, another one is finding an affordable landscape for the front garden of our house. We don't have a fence or a gate yet in front so we are considering having plants for the time being. I'm about to read the Dallas lawn maintenance to educate myself about landscaping and taking care of a garden. I'm not sure if I have a green thumb so I might as well prepare myself for the basics of gardening.

How come there's so much to do with such a little time?

30 Days

That's the exact number of days till our 3rd Year Wedding Anniversary. My mind is blank on what to do in order to celebrate another milestone of our marriage.

I was thinking of using the free overnight accommodation of Sofitel but ended up using it for another occasion which is, I think a first priority since my father and siblings needed it.

Out of town trips are crossed out. Well, I guess it's possible if there are affordable promos ongoing with the hotels in the South area. The easiest and stress-free celebration that comes to my mind is to just dine out and try restaurants we've never been to. Yup! There's a lot restaurants in the South so might as well try each of them :)

Let's see if I can come up something within in the next coming days. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

The RUSH

I just found out in the news a couple of days back that GSP or George St. Pierre of UFC (Ultimate Fighting Champion) will be coming to Manila for a visit! For those whose been watching UFC, you definitely know this guy as he made a mark in Mixed Martial Arts world.

One of my friend/colleague at work decided to go to the Music Hall of Mall of Asia to see GSP personally. I was planning not to go but changed my mind and accompanied her for an hour. When we arrived in the venue, people are busy setting up the place. There's a few crowd that have gathered wanting to be the lucky firsts to get inside once the "arena" has been opened. I can't wait for GSP to arrive since I have a lot of agenda yesterday so I told my friend to tag me in FB for the pics :)

Oh boy, I'm excited as a kid to show the uploaded photos on her FB account. Snagged some of it:

Welcome GSP in Manila

George St. Pierre
He is a Canadian with humble beginnings.
Worked as a bouncer and a garbageman in order to pay for his school fees.

What a Hunk!
What a hunk! He is the current Welterweight Champion of UFC (swoon)

Manila International Book Fair 2010

Last Friday I went off to SMX to check out this book fair that everyone has been raving about. I was hoping to find some good steals as Christmas present for my godchildren. It was my first time to be on that fair.

Upon entering the fair premise, the National Bookstore booth will greet you. They have the biggest space in the fair. I also saw the St. Scholastica booth on the left side while the Logico (I think) is on the right side together with other encyclopedia publications.

I didn't stay for long as I need to get home as early as possible for me to have my sleep. I just went to the booths that I'm familiar with and didn't lounge for more than 5 minutes. It was a brief visit, so to speak.

I was fascinated with the books that I saw on the right most part of the venue. I forgot the publication's name but they have Jumbo coloring books that cost Php 80+ while the paper dolls costs Php 180+. I almost bought the children's bible for my brother and sister but decided to let it go. It costs Php 300+. There are books which featured Filipino stories that cost Php 50-80. After going around on that area and contemplating whether to buy or not, I came up with the decision of not buying anything for the kids. Instead, I went back to National Bookstore and purchase my own books instead (selfish me!).

I splurged (sheepish grin) and bought nine books...

Sophie Kinsella - Mini Shopaholic (Php 615)
Sophie Kinsella - Twenties Girl (Php 275)
Paulo Coelho - Alchemist  and The Zahir (Php 245)
All Nicholas Sparks' books are at Php 315
Ben Sherwood - Charlie St. Cloud (Php 299)

Since I spent over Php 2,500 (yikes!), I'm entitled to get some freebies from National Bookstore. On their Customer Service section, I was asked to draw 4 plastic balls where it has a corresponding item. And here's what I got:

Will I be going to the fair next year? Definitely! But I will need to do some research on the publications and the things that I want to buy. Ahahaha! Obviously I've been a compulsive buyer on the fair. No regrets since I love reading books since I'm in grade school. Till next year.

Zero

The website supporting my counter is gone! Finish! Kapoot!

I created another counter and since it's new then I'm starting back again from the beginning. Tsk! Let's see how many visitors I can gather this time around.

I'm making an effort updating my blog now unlike before wherein I'm so lazy to connect on the internet and my mind completely gets blank when I opened the editor of my blog.

But now, I have a lot of things to tell. I just have to make it a point to remind myself and remember all the things I want to write.

I still owe you the complete travelogue of my Shanghai trip that goes way way back (Chinese New Year to be specific). Since my sister is already here in Manila for good, I'm going to ask her about the places we've visited. Chinese names sounds the same so I got all of them mixed up or worst I completely forgot the names.
Anyways, thank you for my fellow bloggers who never fails to visit my site every once in awhile. In the next coming days, I will visit your blog and leave comments as well to keep in touch with all of you.

Pantene Mystery Promo

Sometime between the last week of July and first week of August, I chance upon reading the blog entries of Daphne Osena-Paez. In one of her entries, she posted a link where you can get samples of the Mystery Shampoo that will be revealed in August 1st if my memory serves me right.

I already had a hunched that the mystery shampoo is Pantene just by judging the shape of the bottle and the tag line "You try, you decide".

There's no harm in trying to register for the free samples and of course the curiosity in me wouldn't just go away so I signed up myself on the link provided. After more than a month, I got the package from Procter and Gamble for the samples that I've been waiting for!

To be honest, I completely forgot about it. Good thing that they sent me an email last Friday telling me to be patient in receiving my sample. And indeed, patience is a virtue ;)

Since I already have the Pantene samples, I'm going to start the 14-day challenge tonight! =)

Our Baby

We are not talking about a human baby here :)  May I present the puppy that my sister bought three weeks ago. She's a cross breed of golden retriever and collie. At first when she arrived in our home, she was scared and keeps following my sister whenever she goes. She's afraid to be touch by other people.

But after weeks of staying with us, she's now comfortable and keeps on following me and my husband since she sees the two of us more compared to my sister. As we speak, she's right outside my bedroom door waiting for me to open it for her. She has this habit of playing and sleeping in the bed since it's soft (she discovered it when she's sleeping in my sister's room). Like a parent to a child, I don't want her to get used to that habit which she will bring eventually when she's older so I always keep the door in our room closed. I can just imagine how chaotic it can be having an adult dog inside a bedroom.

Here's a few snapshots that I have of her...

A still photo of Poochie
(Yeah, that's her name. My sister is the mastermind for that name).

Hubby took this picture while I was eating dinner.

Isn't she adorable? She's naughty and playful. You will know if she's not feeling well when she doesn't move around and prefers to sleep under the couch. She came to us weighing 2.4 kg. Last Saturday when we visited her vet, she weighs 3.3 kg! She's definitely growing fast in the span of 3 weeks ;)

Numero Uno

I'm glad that he did it again! For such a young age of 23, Rafael Nadal proves that one person can excel on his chosen field as long as his heart is set into it. Focus and determination to win are his defense that despite the injury he suffered last year, he proves that nothing can stop him to be the best that he can be.

In the coming years, I'm sure that he will surpass the record set by Roger Federer in the tennis world.

¡Felicitaciones! se esfuerzan por ser el número uno año nuevo el próximo

Glee

I was introduced to this TV series by my sister who happens to have episodes of season 1 in her external hard drive. I've been hearing a lot of raves about Glee but never had a chance to really watch it for myself since we don't have a cable subscription yet.

I started watching the episodes two weeks ago and I was blown away by the concept of the series. Yeah there are some cheesy moments and over board scenes but hey, the setting is high school where all the dramas and decisions in life are starting to kick in.

It's truly entertaining especially if you’re the type of person who enjoys music ;) The characters are all talented considering most of them have no professional experience in acting. Kudos to them, I'd say!

I'm not yet done watching all the episodes of Season 1 but I'm excited to finish it off and brace myself for Season 2 where Charice will be part of the cast. There will be a lot of showdowns I bet between Rachel and Sunshine (Charice's character) so 100% pure entertainment guaranteed ;)

Bouncing Back

I'm back!!!! And it feels so good! Two reasons that I am not online and don't have much updates on this blog.

First, blog sites and forums and the like are blocked in our office so there's no way I can be able to post anything. Almost all the sites in the office are blocked - shopping sites, entertainment, lifestyle, etc.

Second, we lost our internet connection since I completely forgot to pay for it. I have these calculations in my head, allotting the expenses that I missed the internet service. Sigh!

I can't wait to start filling this up with the things that has been happening in my life and in between. But for the time being, I will need to take a nap since I haven't sleep yet since I came from work.

Later in the evening, I will begin posting some stories of what happened on the past weeks.

Triple Celebration

Last August 8, my family went out for lunch to celebrate three events: (1) my birthday; (2) my brother's birthday and; (3) my sister home coming from Shanghai.

We all troop down to Alabang Town Center for a hearty lunch. The only missing person in our group is my mother whose busy attending her sari-sari store but of course, we didn't forget her. We ordered a take-out food to brought home for her.

Since the date falls on Sunday, there's a queue in Gerry's Grill. We had our lunch at 2pm instead of the usual lunch time. Anyways, most of the food are good except for the grilled squid so the long wait is worth it somehow.

We all went home with a happy tummy. Hopefully in the future we can all go together for an out of town trip or better yet an out of the country vacation :)  These are the moments that I looked forward to when I'm with my family. They have flaws but this is where I belong and I couldn't ask for any other family.

Cheers to more celebrations and milestones in our lives! :)

30

That's my age and I am celebrating it right now. Well, I actually celebrated it the office earlier with my colleagues. It was fun and simple lunch in our office pantry.

I was touched that they gave me this card with all their wishes and greetings....awww...In a short span of time that I've known some of them, I can say that I found another set of friends that I will treasure. They are the very reason why the graveyard shift is bearable for me. Not to mention that we keep each other awake the whole time sparing us from insanity...hehehehe.

I can say that we are all goofballs when we are together...

Thank You for making my birthday an extra special one.

It's my month

It's August and though it means a rainy and stormy month I still heart it :)

Of course, it's my birth month and so is my brother so we shared the limelight at this time in the calendar...hehehehe. But seriously, when it's my birthday I always end up celebrating it the whole month. Yeah, it's a killer on my wallet but anyways I like happy moments amidst the gloomiest weather so it's all worth it :)

I need to prepare now as I am going to a baptismal ceremony with a new found friend. What excites me most is the reception venue which will be in Island Cove ;) It's my first time to be there and hopefully it doesn't rain so I can get to swim and take loads of pictures.

My wish for this month is to post a lot of entries! Say, let's start of aiming for a 15 posts? We'll see...
