Not Much

...happening that's why I can't blog and share something with you guys but next week, there will be a lot of story telling from me...wink!...wink!

Hubby and I will be going today in my aunt's house in Cavite for a celebration on Sunday. You will know more about it on Monday.

Tomorrow, my college friends and I will be having a road trip in Tagaytay. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can push through the plan.

Right now I'm just reading a Manga series online. Can't wait for the clock to strike 5pm so I can get out and meet Randiej in Glorietta.

I wonder where will I be getting back my page rank. My sideline is suffering....badly.

Original Content

I've been a blogger for over a year now and during the time I was new to the world of blogging, I have so many questions in mind. Thankfully I have fellow bloggers who were there to help me answer some of them if not all. Up to now, I still have a few technical questions that are left unanswered but that doesn't mean that I will want to stay it that way. If only I have a lot of time in my hands, I will pursue the answer for each of them.

For those who will take a plunge into this world, it's better for someone to be aware that regardless that this is internet, there are still restrictions and guidelines that one must follow. If you're the type of blogger who wants to have a higher page rank in Google then the most important rule you have to know is having an Original Content in your blog entries. Whether it will be any topic under the sun, make sure that the readers can gain knowledge and that there will be something useful that will come up in your entries to keep the visitors coming back.

In case that most of your entries contains no original content, it was said that Google will take action on those domains. I'm thinking that your domain or blog will be scraped off from their search result which can be pretty hurtful at your end.

Prepaid Electricity Meter

Randiej and I were watching a local TV news show and they featured the plan of Meralco (electric company in Manila) for all the electricity meters to be prepaid. They say this will be the answer of their consumers to cut down the cost of their electricity consumption.

If I remember it correctly, they will start the implementation of the prepaid electricity meter in Malabon. Consumers can opt to go back to postpaid after 6 months of usage of prepaid electricity meter.

Obviously we are in favor for this type of electricity meter since it's only me and hubby tin the house thus the usage consumption of our electricity is still manageable unlike if we have kids of our own which can be unpredictable.

Apart from minimizing the consumption of electricity, this will also prevent (if not stop) the illegal jumpers from hacking electric power.

Let's see what will be the feedback of the first users of this gadget.

Joyful Toon No. 97

"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
Matthew 5:12

Last Friday....

...I was out of the office for 4 hours! That is because I went to Phoenix One in Makati together with Hubby for the IT scholarship exam.

We arrived past 1pm since Hubby is late and there's a rally along Paseo de Roxas.

At the office of Phoenix One we started filling out forms before they gave us the answer sheet and questionnaires.

The test is composed of 3 parts - Vocabulary/English which is 25 items; Mathematics which is 30 items and Logical Analysis which is 35 items. We are given 1 hour and 30 minutes to finish the exam.

All I can say is that the exam is pretty tough which is understandable considering your aiming for a 100% scholarship for any IT training short course you want. Though I'm an English literate, I'm not a walking dictionary ^-^

As for the Math, well what can I say...I'm not a big fan of this subject. I made a guess on some of the questionnaires on this part...hehehe.

For the Logical Analysis it was a little easy compared to Math.

Anyways I made it into 1 hour and 30 minutes time limit which is 3pm but Hubby is not yet done and I can see that he has left some numbers unanswered. I told him to take his time in order to answer everything. So to speak, we exceeded the time limit but its okay since nobody from their staff is checking on us. If I'm not mistaken, Randiej finished at 3:20 or 3:30pm.

We went to their front desk and to have our papers checked. Our sets of questionnaires are different from each other so for those who are planning to try their exam, there is no way you can cheat. Ahahahaha!

The test is 90 items in total. My score is 45. Yikes! While Hubby is 58 (nice). But though Randiej scored higher than me, our score bracket falls into 25% discount on their IT training's tuition fee. One of their staff told us that if we will be enrolling within the month of July, they can give us another 5% discount which totals to 30% discount.

Regardless of the discount, I still find their tuition fee a burden (well for me that is since I'm the only one working).

Hubby just told the staff that we will discuss about their offer but honestly we don't have to since
we already made a silent agreement that we will not push through on availing their discount.

Hopefully there are still schools or training centers that we can try. For instance, TESDA is offering a scholarship but we need to wait till next month for available slots.

P.S. In order to get their 100% scholarship, your mistake on the exam should be five items only.

Will update...

tomorrow. Thanks Jan and Jhona for the tag awards :) Promise to make them on Friday.

For now I'm busy prepping myself for an exam. I'm trying my luck and Hubby's as well for a 100% scholarship IT training. I was told yesterday that in order to qualify for the scholarship program we have to pass their 90-point IQ test. They are offering short and long courses such as Java, Oracle, .NET, 3d Animation and Multimedia.

A few minutes ago, I tried an IQ test online to warm up my brain...hehehe. I got the score of 114 which is average.

Then prior to that, I spoke to one of the programmers here in the office about that company who provides IT training and scholarship. He told me he didn't pass the exam last 2004 hence he have to pay for his tuition fee for the training. He told me that the company/school is pretty good on giving trainings. He mentioned that the exam was difficult and composed mostly of math questions and flowcharts. Yikes! I don't have a talent in Math except for Trigonometry. With regards to flowchart, I guess I can handle it okay but just to make sure I will review tonight since it's been pretty long that I encounter flowchart problems.

Good luck to both of us but I wish more for Hubby to pass the IQ test than me.

Wordless Wednesday: Boracay

My Birth Date

Exactly 2 weeks from now I will be celebrating my 29th birthday!
I'm still debating if I have to take a leave or not.

You Are a Revolutionary

You have many talents, and you are great at sharing those talents with others.

Most people would be jealous of your clever intellect, but you're just too likeable to elicit jealousy.

Progressive and original, you're usually thinking up cutting edge ideas.

Quick witted and fast thinking, you have difficulty finding new challenges.

Your strength: Your superhuman brainpower

Your weakness: Your susceptibility to boredom

Your power color: Tangerine

Your power symbol: Ace

Your power month: May

Solar Eclipse

A partial solar eclipse will be seen today in the most eastern part of Asia, Indonesia and China while India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China will be lucky to glimpse a total solar eclipse in the sky. They say that this is the second in the series of three eclipses in a month, with the lunar eclipse last July 7 and the lunar eclipse on August 6.

Good thing that my window happens to where the sun is rising. So far I don't see anything extra ordinary since there is a big bundle of nasty looking clouds covering the skies. Maybe those who own a high-end telescope can see a difference.

A Spa-like Dog Shampoo

Do you wait for weeks between bathing your dog because his skin gets so dry and flaky? Or do you wash your dog one day, just to have the stink return the next? Isn't it time for that new dog smell?

If you answer YES to all the questions above then it's time for us to discover Dinovite, a 100% natural ingredients dog shampoo that makes your dogs clean and wonderful for a long time. They have four different variations to choose from depending on the scent and effect that you like. For once, dogs can enjoy the sweet scent of a shampoo that we humans enjoyed.

Not only this dog shampoo can make our pets smell good but it is tough on fleas without causing dry and flaky hair. Instead it lathers and rinses easily that's why dogs that have sensitive skin will enjoy using this product. Dog owners can rest assured that there is no harmful chemicals contain on this shampoo that will caused skin irritation on their adorable pets.

I'm sure my friends who have pet dogs will love to receive a gift such as this because only few people remember pampering their dogs to the fullest (of course most of them are rich peeps). Not to mention that we our making our fair share in protecting our environment by using organic products like Dinovite.

Early in the morning I had my quick fix of Iced Gems. It will be remembered when were were in our yester years that we see this in stores. An oblong shape piece of bread with a dried icing on top that comes in different colors.

It's not visible in stores now but I was able to have a colleague here in the office to buy not one but 12 pcs of Iced Gems in one pack which cost Php 50! Yummy! After finishing off one pack after 2 hours, my friend Oieyds and I took our usual brunch.

Around 2pm I got hungry and decided to buy a dessert which is "pastillas de leche" a pastry that does not require baking. All you have to do is mix all the ingredients which are milk, sugar and butter then rolled them into your desired shape.

And now, I'm done eating another pack of Iced Gems! I think this is the only day where I ate a lot of sweets. I just hope that this will last for this day only.

Wishing for a Laundry Bag

I know my wish is kind of simple but since my birthday is coming up soon, I will definitely want to receive gifts that are useful at home like a laundry bag which I can carry to and from the laundry shop. At least we can put as much as dirty laundry as we can and I don't have any problems in carrying it in case hubby is not around.

Or I can wish for a towel wrap which was inspired by my home massage service...hehehe. The good thing about having this towel is that I don't have to worry of the towel falling off my body without my hands.

I will be attending a kiddie birthday parties on September and October and I'm still looking for the perfect gift for them. I was debating if I will get a nap mat which is pretty useful for their age or a toy. Or clothes perhaps?

I still have a lot of time to think about it. I'm going to start looking for gift ideas on the internet and then check them out in the malls.

Tiring Weekend

...passed by so quickly. Saturday and Sunday were maximized and I didn't even have enough time to relax.

Friday night was spent washing some of our dirty clothes in Cavite where we arrived at 8:30pm. I started at 9:30pm and then finished at 1am! Most of the time the clothes are being soaked in water, then into detergent soap and lastly in fabric conditioner hence it took me a long time to be done.

Saturday morning was spent checking emails on the internet and at noon I was busy preparing for my friend's wedding in the afternoon. It was a Christian wedding and all I can tell is that the atmosphere is full of love and tears (will post about that even tomorrow). The wedding started at 4pm and the reception ended at 9pm! If I'm not mistaken the wedding ceremony itslef took 2 hours because of the speeches and vows...hehehe.

Sunday morning, we wake up early in the morning to hear mass in Pink Sisters in Tagaytay. We arrive around 6:20am but turns out the mass started at 7:30am. The good thing was there were a lot of vacant seats.

Sunday noon, we are busy preparing our things so we can go back home. I have a meetup with a friend at 2pm so we have to be in Makati on time. Due to constant raining and the traffic in Aguinaldo Highway, we arrived in Ayala MRT at 2:30pm. Good thing the person that I have to meet is still there. After the meetup which only lasted for 30 minutes we hurriedly back home only to realize that we don't have rice and grocery items.

We just put our bags and off we went to Shopwise in Pason Tamo for an impromptu grocery shopping.

Back home, I was busy playing Sims 3 and I slept at 9:30-10 pm. I'm hooked playing that game esecially that I'm controlling 3 characters! My hands are full on keeping tabs on each of them.

Can't believe that we've been so spontaneous when I recount the things that keep me and hubby busy. No wonder my husband slept early on Sunday.

Arizona Heat

And I'm expecting that today will be a rain-free day but right now just looking on my office window, I knew that it will be impossible. It's starting to get cloudy again and there's not even a storm in the country.

There are times that I wish that it's still summer. Lucky for those in the USA they are enjoying every minute of it. My friend who owns an Arizona real estate property says that their house is being rented for the time being while they are in California. It seems that they are rental properties which tourist can avail for vacation purposes. Sometimes I wish I have my own vacation property where I can relax and have a quiet time regardless if it's scorching heat as long as there's a pool to freshen me up, I'll be good.

10 Favorite Places to Eat

I'm back on doing Ten on Tuesday! Ü I missed last week since my hands are full but I'm on the track again ;)

I heart food but I don't eat that much compared to when I was in college but regardless I have a few dining places where I love their dishes and some that I'm hoping to try just by reading the reviews about them.

1. Spiral Restaurant - I've never tried eating here yet but I heard a lot of good reviews. They are pretty famous with their international buffet that everyone has been raving about.

2. Chilli's - at first the name deceived me. I'm not a big fan of spicy foods but I so love the dishes that we ordered the last time that we were here with my friends. Of course my food is anything but chili.

3. Hawaiian BBQ Restaurant - this is where Hubby and I dined last year on my birthday :) I love their Hawaiian baby back ribs! Yum!Yum!

4. Dencio's - what I love is their Pork Sisig! It is the best!

5. Man-Hann - I loved this restaurant when I was working in Ortigas area. Dishes are good for 2 or more people thus it's affordable and i loved their fried rice.

6. Super Bowl of China - their siomai is one of the best!

7. Pancake House - nothing beats their pancakes.

8. Shakey's - Uber love the mojos!

9. Max Restaurant - they are good in Filipino dishes and their chicken is simple mouth watering.

10. Chowking - a simple fast-food chain but I'm used to the taste of their Chinese dishes. Surprisingly, I like their siopao compared to Henlin.

A Big Saving

I was watching in our cable when I saw Zenni Optical on TV!!! Well I can just imagine that they will make it somehow on television ads since they are making waves in the States for their $ 8 Rx eyeglasses which is the most affordable in the market.

Having this kind of offer is a big saving especially for students who doesn't have a job and yet they can enjoy the benefits of having a good quality eyeglass in an affordable price. After all, normally a pair of eyeglasses here in Manila starts at $42. Imagine the saving of $38 if in case Zenni Optical eyeglasses become available here. That will go a long way and you can use the extra money for other expenses.

A big High Five to Zenni Optical!

My Ventosa Experience

For Thet who is waiting for my feedback, here it is ;)

Yesterday I was waiting for 6pm on our clock. I've schedule a home ventosa/massage service for myself since my aching back needs it badly.

Shirley whom I spoke to on the phone when I set an appointment happens to be the masseuse who will do the service! She was 5 minutes late but it's no biggie for me. After all, yesterday's weather was like hell and surprisingly she managed to locate our apartment without any problems.

We immediately start the massage. First she asked for a towel and then asked me to strip off my top. The she asked me to lie down where my back is exposed. She started off massaging my whole back and then I can feel that she's trying to "melt" the cold spots on my shoulder which really hurt. She told me that my cold spots became frozen muscles which are stubbornly stuck on my bones at the back. It's been too long that I have a massage and I will expect that's the case.

After the massage (which is good minus the cold spots pain), she pour a lot of oil on my back. I'm not sure if its the same oil or she put different ones. As long as I can remember, my whole back is slick wet. Then she started putting some patches (not sure if it's really patches or cotton) in different areas in my back. Then she put tea candles and then the glasses.

I can feel the first glass sucking my flesh then followed by another one until I couldn't remember how many they were in my back. It's a little painful but tolerable and this is what Shirley told me. Some of her clients preferred using the stone for relieving cold spot since it's painless compared to ventosa. The pain depends on the amount of cold spots stuck in your body.

Shirley asked my hubby to come over and looked the red marks on my back. She explained that the color depends on the cold spots and toxins in the body. While Shirley arranges the glass on my back, she is thoughtful to ask me how I feel. I told her that there are some areas that are painful but manageable. It took 15 minutes for the ventosa treatment to finish and I feel sore all over. There are instances when I feel that Shirley is trying to move the glass on a different spot on my back but she's having a hard time getting the glass to come off. Most of the glasses on the upper part are almost stuck on my skin, proof that I've been nursing a lot of cold spots and frozen muscles for who knows how long.

After the ventosa, she started massaging my legs then my sole. I can feel that there are a few cold spots on my legs but its not painful compared to my back. Next are my arms and my palms. Lastly is the head which feels so good. The oil she used has a nice scent but I can't tell what kind of scent is that (I'm not familiar with the aroma/scents that were used in the spa).

Overall the experience for me is new. With a little pain here and there but it's okay. The good thing is that all my cold spots and frozen muscles are gone!

(this is what my back looks like yesterday after the Ventosa treatment)

The service for the ventosa treatment with body massage is Php 400 but since she did a good job and it was raining so hard yesterday, I gave Shirley Php 500.

Next time I will opt for the stones instead...ahahaha! After all the difference is only Php 50 Ü

Wordless Wednesday : Cotton Cloud

Getting into Shape

After posting and sharing some of my Boracay pictures to my friend, she asked me how I managed to have a body like that. Well I told her that working out and lessening my food intake during dinner time is the key. But that kind of technique may not be feasible for others.

Then there's Shapely Secrets which you can try and considered to be a "motionless" exercise workout. It's a 7-minute a day program implementing Greer Childers' revolutionary techniques that firm and shape your body fast. These will probably the answer for all those who are tired working out for an hour or getting lazy to exercise even at homes.

I wonder how the 7-minute program works in keeping you in shape and thin. It's really a secret indeed.

Home Massage

I was searching for a good home massage service a few minutes ago and found the Blue Mountain Home Spa located in San Juan Metro Manila.

I called their number and asked if they offer a Ventosa treatment and thankfully they do! I needed it so badly due to my cold spots on the back. Shirley is the lady I spoke to when I called their number and she told me that if we are near San Juan, the charge will be Php 350 but since we are in Makati they will charge us Php 400 instead.

That's fine with me since I will get to stay at home.
I've scheduled the home service on Thursday. Will let you know the feedback on Friday. I just hope that they are good because I really need to ease my aching muscles.

Car Talk

Every time I see and heard BMW there's only one person, actually two persons that comes to my mind...fellow W@Wie couple Dave and Ebeth. They got married last December 11 of 2007 and at that time we always chat and exchange emails about our wedding preparations.

They had a wedding website (actually every W@wie does) where it will tell you the story about the soon-to-wed couples and I find out that both of them are a bmw fanatic! Both of them are a member of a BMW organization/group where every year they will be doing a road trip using BMWs. Cool huh?!

For a year, I've been seeing a lot of fuel efficient cars. I most likely the Honda Jazz since it's prefect for my petite size. But then again I'm not the only passenger who will used the car if we are talking about the future. I search on the net for a fancy family card and I admire the honda odyssey which is actually a mini van and it will be perfect for a family trips.

But then again, I saw this fancy car named ford fiesta which is elegant looking and sleeker but for sure it's smaller compared to Honda Odyssey. I think my sister will like the Ford when she sees the picture of it.

Had a talk with a W@Wie earlier and she told me that it's still a wonder for her why the people in Canada regardless of their jobs can still have their own cars compared to Manila that even a manager can't afford to buy one or it takes them years to have one. I cant' explain what exactly is the formula or explanation for that one since I haven't been out of the country myself but I guess Canada is richer than Philippines and they had a good government which is a factor to be consider.

Hopefully we can have our own car but I'm much eyeing having our own home. A car can be the next goal after the house :)

Boracay Diary (Last Part)

The last day of our vacation leg :( Just thinking about it dampens my spirit. It feels that four days had gone by so quickly. I'm used to waking up early in the morning and taking a walk on the beach. If only we can stay longer but work is beckoning me to come back. Sigh! It's back to reality for me.

My friends and I decided to take our last swim early in the morning before getting busy packing up our things. I've set my alarm at 5:30am as usual and Hubby woke up at the same time. I asked him if his okay because judging from last night, I bet he was nursing a hangover. He said his okay but he still had a little headache. I asked my aunt to accompany me to D' Talipapa so we can buy a hot chocolate drink. My aunt is up early since his bf will be leaving ahead of us through PAL Express. That will be my breakfast for the meantime and also Hubby needs a warm drink to soothe his hangover. We went to the tricycle terminal to drop off his bf and went to a sari-sari store to buy a chocolate sachet and a cup since Cez Manor has a hot and cold water dispenser which their guests can use.

After my wifey duty of taking care of him back in our room, I asked Hubby if his feeling better since we will be swimming on the beach. He declined and wanted to stay in bed and sleep for a few more minutes. Before I left the room, I checked my mobile for any SMS coming from Cebu Pacific and lo! There are 2 text messages informing us again that our flight Caticlan-Manila is cancelled and we are scheduled for a flight from Kalibo-Manila at 1:05pm instead. Hurriedly I asked my aunt for his mobile to call the Cebu Pacific Aklan branch and I always end up getting disconnected. So I tried calling the Manila office instead which thankfully I was able to get through and asked the agent for a short notice.

She told me that the runway is again closed for maintenance and all Cebu Pacific flights are transferred to Kalibo. Good thing I'm not so pissed off with the changes otherwise I might asked them that how come PAL Express has a direct flight if there's an issue with the runway?! I decided to change our ETD from 1:05 pm to 1:40pm instead since we need extra time for the additional travelling time for the shuttle transfer. I was advised to have 4 hours of travel period from Boracay island to Kalibo airport and there will be a van waiting for us in Caticlan airport.

I didn't argue about their setup because there's nothing left to do but to oblige. As much as you want to complain, the changes have been made. There are other afternoon flights to Manila but since Hubby and I need to register in Comelec near our apartment for that day we have to go home before 4pm.

My three friends have their flight schedule changed as well to 5:40pm. Lucky them and they can still lounge longer in the island. Since we are short of time, I asked one of them to buy me a hand painted shirt in Lonely Planet as a souvenir for myself =P

After the call, we all headed to the beach for our last swim. Sniff! The water feels good, not to mention how refreshing the scent of the sea. We took a few pictures of all of us swimming...
We only took a swim for 30 minutes to an hour then reluctantly I drag myself to go back to our room and take a bath. While I was taking a shower, Hubby is starting to pack our things. I've given him instruction on how he will pack them...hehehe.

Hubby is next so after my turn, I hurriedly dress up and picked up a few things left on our bed. At that time, my aunt is done with her packing task and she went to our room with her baggage. I asked her that it will be a perfect time for her to finish her shopping for souvenirs. After 30-45 minutes, Hubby is done with the shower and dressing up, I texted my aunt to come at our room so we can leave. It was past 10am and I don't want to miss the flight because I was told that any changes on the confirmed schedule will be paid by us and I don't want that to happen.

Armed with our bags we trudge back to the tricycle terminal in D' Talipapa and asked the driver to drop us in Jetty Port. Again they charge us Php 100 for the special trip. As the scene past right before my eyes, I feel sad that our vacation is over. We should have stayed there for a week instead of 4 days! Well, there's always next time.

At the Jetty Port we only paid terminal fee of Php 5 (I think) and boat fare of Php 25 (we didn't ride the fast track boat).

At the Caticlan Jetty Port, we took another tricycle ride going to the airport which cost us Php 50. As much as the distance is near and we can walk our way there, it will be tiring since we heave bags that acquired additional weight (thanks to our pasalubongs).

At the Caticlan airport we are greeted by a Cebu Pacific agent asking us about our flight. When we told him that it's Cebu Pacific he assisted us going to their office. He even carry our bags (gentleman eh?). Once inside the office we presented our printed itinerary form and they printed out our boarding pass which will be use in Kalibo airport.

We are ushered to the rented van and lucky for us since we are the first passengers. We are thinking that it will take some time before the van will hit the road because based on experience, shuttle vans wants all the seats to be occupied. Since our van is 14-16 seater, we need to have more passengers before we can leave. Fortunately after 10 minutes, there are 10 passengers of the van including 2 foreigners and off we go.

I prefer riding a van than in a bus because I didn't get dizzy at all during the entire ride. Instead I fell asleep and woke up when we are almost near Kalibo airport.

At the airport there's a lot of frenzy going on because of the cancelled flights, attendants had their hands full. Our baggage together with our foot wear went into the scanner then we went to the check-in counter for the weighing of our things. After that we have to pay the terminal fee of Php 20 then proceed to the waiting area.

On the waiting area there are stalls who sell different pastries and delicacies for the tourists. Of course, I bought some for my parents and friends (I told you, I splurged a lot on pasalubongs =P).

I'm pretty confident this time that we will not missed our flight since you can see the airplanes from where we are seated. After 30 minutes our flight has been called and we all boarded the plane. I was expecting for our plane to be full of passengers but there are some vacant seats when we take-off. My husband is happy that he has an empty seat on his side =D

While on airborne, we took a couple of photos...
It didn't felt like an hour flight and I can see the familiar clustered of homes and buildings on our window. We are finally in Manila.

My aunt's bf was waiting for us in the airport's exit which is a relief for Randiej and me since we won't have to pay for a cab to get us home. We arrived in our apartment at 3:30-3:45pm. After placing our bags in our home we hurriedly went to the Barangay hall for voter's registration. I guess we are blessed because we made it on time and we are the last to register.

After our agenda in Barangay hall we went back home and it finally dawned on me that we are indeed going back to normal. No more crystal clear more powdery white more island more vacation.

But I promised myself that I will go back there soon ;)

Note: Thank you to my fellow bloggers for patiently waiting and reading my Boracay Diary entries. Next week, I will post some photos of the items that I bought in the island.

I'm surprise to see that my PR yesterday was 0. A day before that I still have a PR 3 but sad to say, Mr. G probably noticed something "fishy" (?) in my blog thus he axed it and gave me a ZERO as a punishment.

I thought I will never experienced having a 0 for a page rank but then again, there's always a first time. After 18 months of having a PR and now I have nothing.

Guess I just have to be patient and pray for my PR to return...soon!

Clothing Inventory

My sister sent me an email a few days back asking me to go to our parent's house and check for any possible clothing of hers that she can ask her boyfriend to bring in China next week for a visit. This will be a tedious task since as far as I can remember, she has tons of clothes!

For sure the clothes that she left at home will be perfect for the summer season in China. Tees and comfortable shorts to begin with. Sundresses, skirts and skimpy shorts are not her thing so definitely that will be out of the list.

Compared to our weather which is wet and hot season, we can't totally enjoy the winter clothing since it doesn't snow in our country unlike in China. I know on some parts of that country they do have a snow and when it's December to February the temperature tends to get colder which makes trench coat, leggings, sky-high boots and parka a must.

The good thing is that we can still enjoy the fashion style during fall where skinny jeans, spacious sweaters, plaids and sheer black are the welcome to be wear in our country. Plaids can be seen anywhere today, same as with the skinny jeans. For the spacious sweaters it can be use during the rainy season and Christmas season where there's a hint of chill in the air.

I myself am planning to buy a new pair of skinny jeans, leggings and a plaid shirt. It's a simple yet catchy casual wear that I don't need to fuss about.

Good luck to me on Sunday when I made a visit to my parent's home, hopefully I can reason out with my sister to just buy a new set of wardrobe instead...hehehe.

Boracay Diary (Part 3)

I’ve set my alarm at 5:30am for the trip in grotto. When I checked the other rooms through our window, I saw Dee getting ready to visit the grotto. I hurriedly open our door and told her that I want to go with her. I asked her to wait for me for a few minutes while I brush my teeth, comb my hair and gather up my things (sun block, coin purse and camera). At that time Hubby is still sleeping and I assume that he slept at around 4am so asking him to join us will be impossible.

The scent or the morning air is welcoming when we hit the beachfront. I spotted a taho vendor and hurriedly bought one for myself since I need to fill up my stomach with something before walking. We walked from Station 2 going to Station 1 on the beach side where hotels, restaurants and bars are lined up. I didn’t mind the long walk that we had since I was busy checking out the hotels on our side and noticing the well refined sand on our feet, indication that we are in Station 1.

There are some people who are off for a morning jogging (foreigners) while others are simply loitering on the seashore and enjoying the view of the sea early in the morning. My friend, Dee told me that we are lucky that it’s not high tide otherwise we will be swimming our way to the grotto.

We make a quick stop in Jonah’s fruit shake because my friend is craving for one. I had to pass the treat since I didn’t eat any heavy breakfast. As I remembered, Jonah’s fruit shake is famous on Boracay Island. The price range of the shakes starts at Php 80-90 pesos. We only waited for 5 minutes and the shake is ready. It is placed in a mineral water bottle with a straw. Dee told me that the shake was good. Sigh! I wish I had ordered but I’m worried on what will be my tummy’s reaction if I did get a dose of the shake.
Once neared the grotto there were a few people who were there having there picture taken. So we waited patiently for my turn. After the photo ops, the sun is starting to rise and we are planning to go back to Station 2 via jeepney (hehehe. We got tired of walking). As we are making our way to the road, my mobile phone rings and it was my aunt asking me where I am. I told her that we are already on the grotto and she told me to wait for them as they are preparing to leave. I asked my aunt to wake up Randiej so he can join us. I told my friend about it and so we waited for them on a cemented stairs of a bar/restaurant (I didn’t catch the name of the place).
After a few minutes we saw my aunt and her bf coming toward us. She told me that Randiej wants to sleep and he told them that they can go ahead without him. That’s what happens when you’re always awake at night and early dawn. You missed the fun in the day…hehehe.

So we waited again for my aunt and her bf while they are busy having their pictures taken in the grotto. After 15-30 minutes we were walking our way back to Station 2. We stop a few times checking out any restaurants for breakfast meals then my friend and aunt stopped into a Banana Q and Camote Q vendor to buy one for themselves. I decided to buy for me and Randiej since we don’t get to eat this at home.

I was munching my share while walking our way back home. In our room, Hubby is still sleeping so I left the sweet treat on the table then my aunt and friend asked me to eat a heavy breakfast. We went to D’ Talipapa and went to one of the eatery who offers La Paz Batchoy, Bulalo and their specialty which is goat dishes.

My aunt ordered a goto while her bf ordered a Lap Paz Batchoy. My friend on the other hand ordered Bulalo while I sat with them. I didn’t order anything since I feel full and I’m not hungry at that time. My two other friends are looking for other eateries where they can eat which happens to be Andoks. After eating their breakfast, I decided to buy one order of siomai (4 pcs) for Randiej at Siomai’s House. In Manila the 4 pcs. of siomai cost Php 25 but in D’ Talipapa, it cost Php 30.

After my purchase we head back to our rooms to take a rest since our afternoon itinerary is going to Mt. Luho where you can see the whole island of Boracay. We are set at 4pm so that’s plenty of time for us to do our own activities. Me, my aunt and my friend take this chance to scout for additional souvenirs along Station 3. When we get out of our room it was nearing lunch time.

We stroll our way to Station 3 and I guess probably half-way of the station, we saw the line of vendors selling bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other accessories. Since my aunt is complaining about the heat and the length of our walk we decided to stick with the first vendor for our souvenir purchases.

My aunt fell in love with the bracelets that has semi-precious stone and mother of pearl shells. She was able to bargain it for 3 pieces at Php 100. They do have sets which cost Php 150 (necklace and bracelet + earrings). I on the other hand requested for an ID holder as a gift for my sister and for myself….hehehe. It cost Php 150 since the length of the ID holder is equal to one set. In addition to the ID holder, I requested for earrings which cost Php 20 each. I was telling my aunt that we can make it as a business where she can sell it overseas. The mother of pearl shell is unique and I’ve never seen any accessories selling in the malls that are made of that kind of shell. Anyway, my aunt is probably thinking about my proposal but I think it will be a good business since she told me before that handicrafts coming from the Philippines are being sold in Bahrain for a higher price.
We probably stayed there for an hour or two and the sun is high up in the sky and the ocean is so perfectly blue green. Regardless of the heat, we are happy with our purchases and we are planning to finish our shopping later that night or tomorrow morning.

Arriving in our room, Hubby was already awake and I told him that I left him some food to eat. While he was eating his late breakfast and watching TV, I’m trying to get a nap for the afternoon’s agenda.

At 3:00pm, I was already preparing for our tour in Mt. Luho. I was just waiting for my friend to knock on our door and give us the go signal. While waiting I received a text message from one of them informing me that we will set to leave at 4:30pm instead. Since we have a spare time, I asked Hubby to have our late lunch/early dinner because for sure we will be hungry once we went to the mountain. We ate Andoks since it’s affordable and they offer a lot of meals to choose from. We finished at 4pm and we went back to our room and prepare the things that we will be carrying.

Exactly 4:30pm we troop to the tricycle parking are in D’ Talipapa and rented two tricycles for the trip. They charge us Php 100 per person round trip to Mt. Luho and back to D’ Talipapa. We were told earlier by another vendor in Station 3 that trekking Mt. Luho might be dangerous since there are a lot of contractors coming from different provinces on that area that are taking advantage of the tourist thus she told us that we go there where there is still sun and hired a tricycle instead.

Other option going to Mt. Luho is via ATV. I had no idea how much it will cost but my guess it will be around Php 1.5k-Php 2.5k. On our way to Mt. Luho we saw a lot of Koreans riding ATVs going to the same destination. I guess the trip took 5-10 minutes because the road going up is pretty steep. Our tricycle driver told us that it was a good thing that the road was cemented because before they can’t climb the mountain due to the rocky road.

At the viewpoint of Mt. Luho you have to climb stairs to the peak point. There’s an entrance of Php 50 per person. On the entrance point you will see a preserved snake on a branch.
I didn’t notice it until my aunt’s bf pull up a prank on her and she gave out a loud yelp of surprise….hehehe.
A few steps going up, there’s a terrace where you can have your picture taken against the nature’s backdrop. Then there’s another staircase made of steel which leads to the highest view point of the mountain. It can only hold up to 5 persons due to the space and the supporting steel bars are not that sturdy to accommodate a weight of more than 5 persons. It’s windy at the top and you can see everything. Photographers will definitely love this spot. The view is breath taking ;)
After taking tons of pictures coming from different cameras, we went down and checked out their mini zoo. They have a peacock, bear cat, monkey and a python. On our way down to Mt. Luho we take the chance of taking pictures near the signage (yeah, we are all camera addicts!).
I’m not sure the exact time that we went back to Station 2 but we hurriedly went to the beach and view the sunset. There were a lot of sailing boats on the sea at that time. My friend told me that sailing boats offer a ride during sunset thus the boats are visible at that time of the day. No idea how much is the price since we didn’t try it. Maybe on our next visit ;)
We took turns having our picture taken against the sunset.I super love this photo of me and Randiej. Thanks to Jen for capturing it perfectly!
We went back to our rooms to take a rest and put away our things. After a few minutes my aunt and her bf is asking us to have our dinner. The problem is that Hubby and I are still full. They were planning to try the dinner buffet in a nearby restaurant/bar which is only a few steps away from our place once you reached the front beach. I told my aunt and my friends that we are not hungry and we will just wait for them to finish. For the meantime we went to D’ Talipapa and scout for additional souvenir goods that I will be taking home.

I bought two white shirts with a Boracay printed on front which cost Php 150 pesos (Php 75 each) and a muscle sleeveless shirt and shorts (terno) which cost Php 100-150. Then aside from that I purchased ref magnets which cost Php 100 for 7 pieces. I guess we spent 45 minutes to an hour on the shops because after putting the merchandise that I bought and going back to the buffet table, my aunt, her bf and my friend are all finished eating. My two other friends decided to eat burger at the D’Mall for their dinner.

We chatted for a few minutes and then come up with something to do for the evening. My aunt’s bf asked Randiej to join him in a drinking session while listening to the band in Boracay Regency. Us girls on the other hand will hit the Lonely Planet store in D’Mall because I still need to buy shirts/blouses/sandos for my parents and siblings.

We dropped the boys off to the beach front of Regency where they have a band performing every night. During the band’s break, fire dancers will take the crowd’s attention and hop from one table to another for an up close encounter with the fire they used for their dance.

At the Lonely Planet there were items that are on sale. I got a blouse for my mother and a racerback top for my youngest sister. Both of them are on 30% off. I decided to purchase a white sando with printed design for my father and two brothers. All three are at 5% off.
Other items you will see on the store are flip flops (Havaianas and Ipanema) and their signature product, the hand-painted shirts. Compared to the other shirts they have on the store, it cost around Php 500 and above depending on hand painted design.

I’m not sure what time is it but for sure it’s getting late when we stop by the Regency to fetch the boys. I can tell that my husband is pretty drunk because his starting to be talkative. In other words not his usual self. His pestering me to stay with them and listened to the band which I don’t like since I’m getting sleepy. I told him that I’ll just go ahead to our room where I will wait for him. He reluctantly agrees that I should go home.

On our room, I immediately took a bath and watched television. After a few minutes I went to my aunt’s room to ask on what time her bf and Randiej will be coming home. She told me that she got a text message and that they were on their way.

I went back to our room and started to fall asleep while watching TV. I’m not sure how many minutes have passed but I’m starting to get impatient waiting for Hubby. I don’t want to be disturbed by his knocks when I’m already asleep so I decided to check again with my aunt. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see Randiej and my aunt’s bf on the hallway talking. Hubby asked me why I’m still up and I just answered with a frown and close the door, this time I didn’t locked it.

Now I can be at peace to sleep since his back in our room. After 15 minutes he went inside and started narrating stories (in English language) that was told to him by my aunt’s bf. I begged him to save it in the morning instead since we have to sleep early for the flight. Obviously he will not stop acting like a giddy child so he advise me to sleep on the other side of the bed far from him so I can sleep peacefully and he can stop annoying me. It worked! He started to be quiet and his just watching TV while I close my eyelids which started getting heavier and heavier by the minute….
