Before this word applies only to the security of our home where we lived but now there are different things that we need to protect like our identity, personal information, credit card number, etc.

In the US, identity theft has been a growing problem since most of us rely too much on internet to transact our businesses where it's a playground for hackers to get our information unaware. Thus identity theft protection is needed and online users like us should be careful in giving out information about ourselves.
