Tough Times

Last Friday my colleague/friend here told me a sudden "bad news". Our recruitment manager spoke to her and told her about the decision of the management of having 2 from the recruitment team to be lay-off. No names were mentioned but it was definite that either one or two will go.

I'm not sure if I will be included but somehow I'm still safe. That is because my colleague asked our manager if there's a feedback from the US headquarters about me (since I'm the only one directly reporting to them) and she answered that there's no advice if I will be included in the "eviction". So for the time being I'm unharmed. Until when? I'm not sure.

I can't help but feel sad for my colleagues who will be leaving me...us, soon. It's been a year and 6 months that I spend most of my time in the office with them. My circle of friends in the office will soon be incomplete. We even told each other that none of us is going to resign and we will stick with each other no matter what happens.

As much as I don't want them to leave there's nothing I can do. Tough times are definitely here.

Again, this will not be a goodbye for us. As the saying goes, when a door closed a window opens. And I firmly believe that. We will still see each other.
